Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Monier Horizon Roof Tiles 2Apr 19, 2012 5:36 pm No. We have been living there for 12 months and no problems at all. I have heard that some builders try to get their clients to not go with them so they pick a cheaper range of tiles for no credit. They are a great product. I am sure if they leak its probably due to poor laying. Re: Monier Horizon Roof Tiles 3Apr 19, 2012 9:24 pm We have used this product for a few years and find it to be great. Is your roof pitch low , say 15degrees or so? Did they fit sisalation paper (that blue and silver paper) under the tiles? @builderforlife Building inspector and passionate about construction When you need an expert to take a look. Re: Monier Horizon Roof Tiles 5Apr 20, 2012 8:06 am A lower pitch can present issues, especially if your going below 20 degrees and not using sarking. The lower pitch means that water isnt transferred as quickly and effectively from the top of the roof to the bottom. When there is a lower pitch, say 15 degrees, a heavy downpour can result in water inundation at the bottom of the roof which can result in water portruding through sidelaps in tiles causing issues if you dont have sarking installed to capture this water run off. Our business reccommends sarking regardless of pitch but generally makes it mandatory for roof pitches below 20 degrees. On our equivalent to the Horizon we make sarking mandatory regardless of pitch as an extra precaution. I hope on scaring you off using the flat tile at low pitch, but I would definitely reccommend using sarking. Re: Monier Horizon Roof Tiles 7Apr 30, 2012 4:09 pm Our decision to make sarking mandatory on all projects featuring our Horizon equivalent is purely based on best practice. Given that the Prestige range (our Horizon equivalent) is our premium concrete roofing product, it makes sense that customers who pay for our premium roofing option should get the best roof possible and thats a roof that includes roof sarking. Re: Monier Horizon Roof Tiles 9May 18, 2012 8:36 pm Hi all, thinking of getting the horizon profile tiles also and was told sarking was a good idea. This might be a silly question, but if there is a leak, where does the water go? Does it accumulate or run off somewhere? Is there maintenance involved eg dusting? What is the approximate cost?
