With regard to the noisy auto garage doors, may I ask whether you had insulation installed in the garage, i.e. internal & external walls and secondly in between floors? We have just asked for this to be done for that reason, however if you both have it everywhere, may be a futile additional cost (which wasn't exactly peanuts). Cheers, OFH Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 874Jan 25, 2013 2:44 pm our forever home Hello Willcres & Sunshine T, I have loved following both your threads and even after completion everyone is sharing such valuable information on issues that never come to mind before or even during the build. Cheers, OFH Hi OFH - our garage doesn't have any rooms above it like most second storey homes, so we don't have the roof insulation issue. We do have one connecting wall (between garage, bathroom, ensuite and WIR) which is insulated. When the doors between garage and bathroom are closed, we can barely hear the sound of the garage door, but when in the garage it makes an all mighty sound. As I mentioned above, I haven't actually heard one before (can't think why now, maybe I just never stood in friends' garages!). When the opportunity arises I will see if I can listen to someone elses'. My mother has one though and she did say ours sounds the same as hers, so I figured they are all just very noisy. Cheers, OFH Hi OFH, Thank you for following my journey... In regards to your question, we did have colorbond garage door before. It depends on the motor brand, the one we had previously was the motor that is noisy. The one we have now is a lot smoother. We can't hear the motor sound if we are inside the house. The noisy sound I have now is not from the motor but from the steel that hold the door when it's going up. It sounds like the steel is not properly installed/ balance, so it hits something really loud...then smooth again. We have insulation in one side of the wall because it's next to foyer. But the other walls are just bricks. We don't have insulation between floirs, I wish I add it. Hhmm maybe next time...:p Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 876Feb 12, 2013 8:12 pm Today we've been visited by the 3 months maintenance guy from W. He's very thorough and helpful so far. Our lists are written, photographed and will be typed once he's in the office. So far, nothing really major. Most problem are loose doors screw, paints patch up, door handle tighten. The garage door unfortunately didn't make much noise when we tested today, not sure because of the weather maybe, it's been cold since yesterday. But few hours after he left, it make noisy sound again...uuurgghh.. For those of you who is going to have polished porcelain, you will be charged $500 to clean, apparently this should be like a polished machine. We didn't get it. I'm a bit upset because our SS (who left the company) has told lie. When I asked him about the $500 tiles cleaning, he said it was the black plastic that cover the whole floor.... Lucky that maintenance guy told me today and he said if Di lorenzo didn't send that machine, they will have to do it. Well, not too keen if we have to move around the furniture.... But it has to happened since we have paid $500 I guess and this might help with our optical haze complaint. Meanwhile our landscaping has started and looks like it will finish in 4-5 weeks time. Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 877Feb 13, 2013 5:58 am Good to hear nothing major to fix. How frustrating the garage door didn't make the noise when he was there. Hope the tiles cleaning fixes your optical haze. They must be able to fix it, none of the display homes seem to have it. Are you getting a landscaper to do your gardens. Would love to see pics when they are done We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! Luckily the haze is not that much, mostly in the study room and front foyer. But still, they need to polish the floor for the $500 we paid. Most display homes don't use the shiny polished porcelain, they use matt one. The matt tiles don't have optical haze. Yes, I can't wait myself to see our garden finish. It's so muddy now after rain... Would love to post pics soon. the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6736 Hi, guys!
