Mate we have just moved into our new build and had a similar situation, unfortunately the best way is to find a solution that will suit you because if you don't the builder will do what suits them. Good luck A bank is a place that will lend you money only if you can prove that you don't need it... Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 69Sep 06, 2012 8:21 pm The issue is i have had plenty of suggestions including removing the garage window but have been told i have to gave one there. Part of the issue is the slab has been poured including where the water tank is. If we were told about this prior i would have had the water tank moved 2 Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 70Sep 06, 2012 8:55 pm I am assuming the tank is collecting rainwater. Could that one down pipe be plumbed into top of tank (so pipe would run along underside of eave) which would make enough room for the metre box? My building thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53000 Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 71Sep 07, 2012 9:41 am I did not try that one, I just told them brick up the window...... this is the easiest solution and I don't really need it in there anyway and would have told them to remove it anyway. Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 72Sep 07, 2012 9:52 am I would have thought bricking up the window would not be an option as the plans have been approved with a window into the garage. Wouldn't it have to go back for approval again? Building tip No. 3: A raft slab will not get you down a river. A waffle pod slab does not go with maple syrup. My building thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53000 Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 73Sep 07, 2012 9:56 am No idea...... My wife called the GM yesterday and he seemed to think bricking it up would be the easiest thing to do. The bad thing is we have been asking for it on that side since day 1 so should have been picked up sooner or told "Hey you need to remove that window" or "That Water tank needs to be moved" Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 74Sep 07, 2012 11:16 am Hello, We have built 3 houses with Allworth (investments) two went really well. The third once plans were approved ,the Certifier picked up that the house was actually too big for the block. Allworth made some suggestions, we had to knock off the eaves off the Alfresco to make it fit. We were really worried about how it would look. It came out ok, and one thing I do have to give them credit for is....they actually built within the time specified. Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 75Sep 07, 2012 11:21 am The suggestion to keep it on the Garage side to put the downpipe running down the front of the house was the only option they offered in the first instance. Everything I seemed to suggest the Construction Supervisor seemed to not want to do for various reasons.... It will get sorted but just something else that SHOULD have been picked up before the soil was even turned Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 76Sep 07, 2012 3:48 pm My wife followed up today and they have gone to the Private Certifier to get approval to remove the window so we have our fingers crossed. She's been put on to chasing it up now, as she's less of a push over than me Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 77Sep 08, 2012 8:55 am dvestate The bad thing is we have been asking for it on that side since day 1 so should have been picked up sooner or told "Hey you need to remove that window" or "That Water tank needs to be moved" Yes, should have been picked up earlier, but at least they have picked it up now and not after framework and bricking has been done. dvestate My wife followed up today and they have gone to the Private Certifier to get approval to remove the window so we have our fingers crossed. She's been put on to chasing it up now, as she's less of a push over than me Hopefully gets approved quickly. I leave that sort of stuff to my DH, he is better at dealing with this stuff than me. Re: dvestate's Build - Potential Issue :( 80Sep 10, 2012 1:10 pm dvestate Had a strange dream last night that I went to the house and instead of Rolled joints for the brickwork was some wierd half raked half flush combo...... man I've gone crazy!! LOL Well building a home does consume your life to a certain extent and things come out in your dreams. I haven't dreamed about our house at all, maybe I am still a little over it after waiting so long in admin, lol. Maybe the dream is a message that you better keep a close watch on the brickies when they start, but I am sure you would do that anyway with everything else. Or a distraction away from your electrical meter issue. We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17579 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 10410 |
