Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Feb 18, 2012 10:47 am I know there have been quite a number of posts regarding decking and pergolas, but I've noticed there's a common trend in all - most prices quoted are DIY builders/handymen who supply their own materials and labour, and end up paying just for the materials. It's harder to find other posts, where tradesmen have provided quotes to people, so apologies if I'm repeating previously asked questions with my post. I've recently been quoted $20K for two pergolas and Kapur decking (decking being 300mm off the ground, approx. 29m2 or 320lm). The quote includes a roofing upgrade, painting throughout, council applications, design, etc. $10K alone is for the TWO pergolas (which I think is reasonable), the rest is for deck and all the other mentioned extras. The deck price seems a bit steep to me, but apparently Kapur is reasonable quality and the wood being used for construction won't rot and ants won't think "Mmm... yummy!" Is this acceptable, considering it's not a DIY project, and price would obviously include the labour, materials supply, council applications, and whatever else goes with it. Many thanks! Re: Two pergolas and a deck... 2Feb 25, 2012 1:17 pm Hey there! Agreed with all the handy diyers! We had 32sqm of decking installed and used treated pine (I'm a little of an Eco freak and most hardwoods are not sustainable!) and it cost us a little over $4000. This was all inclusive with labor, materials and staining. With a hardwood it was going to be more than double. So I'm guessing you have a quote that sounds reasonable. It all depends on if you want to or can afford to pay for it I guess. Have you shopped your plans around? NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!
