Plenty of choices to choose from and unlike wisdom homes at least if we have grievances with the company we can write about it in forums or blogs unlike wisdom homes you are bound by your building contract that specifically says you cannot criticise the builder or post publicly in forums without their written permission. Hope the point of wanting to breach the contract never arrives. Though we have had a good initial experience with both the builders. I am more inclined towards EBH and wifey towards WH. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 14553Jun 07, 2017 2:20 pm whichbuilder Hi all. Been considering Eden Brae for building our new home along with Wisdom and Better Built. But wifey and me get a feeling that EB's designs, especially the facades are a bit outdated. We are looking in particular at Heathcote 37 (Upstairs Bed1 Rear Alt). What do you guys think? We were very close to building the Heathcote. Originally the 37 with master at front on first floor and the downstairs bed 1 extension plan on ground floor. But decided we need a bigger family room, and with the amount they wanted to charge to make it bigger we were better off going for the 41. Just before requesting tender we had another look at Wisdom. We had originally ruled out W as we thought they were over budget, but once we had a rough tally of what we would be spending with EB the total spend was similar. I was more "wowed" by the W design than EB and it was a shorter but wider house that maximised the block better. Also it was easier to visualise with there being a display home. So our decision was purely based on design. Both builders seem to have a good reputation for build quality. I'd still like to see a heathcote Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 14554Jun 07, 2017 9:48 pm Can anyone tell me if there is 'builders selection' of paint colours. We have the Taubmans upgrade included in our build, but the colour chart in our selections folder is very limited. Just wondering if we can pick from any taubmans colour? Also - maybe a question for Bruce - I was speaking to a mate of mine today who is a painter by trade and he said that the paint manufacturers state that to meet the Australian standard there needs to be a base coat and 2 top coats of paint. How do EBH manage to build to Australian standards but not adhere to the paint standard? I know we can pay for a 3rd coat (I doubt we will), but thought it an interesting point. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 14555Jun 10, 2017 10:06 am Modified Bristol 28 Options Hi All, we are building Bristol 28 and so far we have signed the tender and going ahead for the contract phase. However, since our lot is 14.5m frontage we have lot of room left to expand, so we are thinking about expanding the home width. The default home width for Bristol 28 is 10.7m and we are thinking to expand by 0.7m (no solid reason why 0.7m) towards the right hand side of the plan as in the pictured below. I've made two variations, Option1 (with games room to the front) and Option2 (games in the middle as per the original plan). My wife is leaning more towards Option2 as it is giving more room for BED4, however I feel that the other bedroom, BED3, is too big. Also this room has the sliding glass door of 3.6m width as per the fairview facade. So privacy issues to use it as an actual bedroom. Points to note, Option1 - missing ward robe in BED2, if we keep it its getting too small, BED4 remains same as in original plan Option2 - Ward robe placing in BED3 issue, we do not want to turn the bed facing the big sliding window due to privacy issues, 0.6m extra space in BED4. I want to know your views on these two options. Is BED3 in Option2 too big? Will the lined bedrooms in Option1 make the home look boxy? and is the Games room at the front more functional or leaving it in the middle? option1 Option1Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Option2 Option2Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ All valuable suggestions are highly appreciated. Ask the girls there, they are happy to help if not busy with clients. Eden Brae has good range in standard benchtop. There were about 4-6 selections.
