I think you have to be very committed to paint a whole house yourself!! Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1023Feb 08, 2013 9:12 pm Or a bit of both!! Now to save so we can afford it Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1024Feb 08, 2013 9:17 pm I think if it was just rectangles I'd be ok, but its looking at all the edges that puts me Off!!! So many edges!!! Jen Building with HomeGroupWA (started as Scott Park Homes ) - Grand Wisteria Check out my Build Thread!! Time line on P1. Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1025Feb 08, 2013 9:19 pm DH did all the sealer as that stuff stinks and m pregnant nose could not handle that at all. Then we used dulux once so only one coat was needed. Feature walls was normal dulux so took 2-3 coats. Worst part is cutting in & inside cupboards. Oh and wet areas! Actually the whole lot sucks. I'm makin sure we save hard to pay for painters. New house is bigger with more walls and high ceilings haha Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1026Feb 08, 2013 9:28 pm I missed so much!!! How did that happen? Love the purple lampshade , the kitchen, the bath - so miss having a soak , the buff colour, the Moët, the ring, love love love super jealous you're this far already Jen Would you mind pm ing me the painters details too? We really want to do it ourselves this time because of what the last painter charged but I feel soooo old and sore every time I think of having to pick up that paint brush again Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1027Feb 09, 2013 11:40 am Forget the aches and pain, its walking into a room in your new home and your eye being drawn to that small blemish or patch of paint that was just not right, that is the kind of gift that just keeps on giving, every day! Pay a tradesman Home looks great Jen and Dan keep up the good work Oh! and the pictres Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1028Feb 09, 2013 3:55 pm Thanks bradster!!! I think paying a tradesman was well worth it. If I had a useful DIY bone (I can sew...) in my body and actually got any enjoyment from it I would have given it a go But the reality is my work pays me bloody good, and to do my job well I need to be pretty chilled and play nice with people.... Which will not happen if I have to do the hour trip home and stay up late to paint, That would end up with fluffy ball of rage Jen and work is good enough at that hahhaha So I pay people who like painting lol!!! And having seen the finished job would fully recommend them!! It's perfect and they did so much patching! It's amazing how tricky it is to see dents in plaster when it's white! That must be why they put a coat on then patch! And We have a cracked tile in the laundry I think it is due to the slab crack. Hopefully the house finishes settling soon... They are going to have some patching at the 6 month mark. guess this is what we get for building on land that was lake 20 years ago! I have every confidence the builder will fix it though Jen Building with HomeGroupWA (started as Scott Park Homes ) - Grand Wisteria Check out my Build Thread!! Time line on P1. Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1029Feb 09, 2013 4:27 pm Take dated photographs of anything going wrong or needing attention Jen just in case and save them to the '6 month maintenance file' with notes. I think you've convinced me about the painters! Glad they did a good job. Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1030Feb 09, 2013 4:43 pm That's a fantastic idea!!! Everything works so well I am real jealous. I think next time (if there is one) I will definitely copy your house. Even the letterbox is so cool - we planned to brick in our letterbox in a planter out front but there are so many cute letterboxes around now we will definitely consider something like this!!! Did you cook your fancy meal on Thursday night? Stuffed chicken if I remember correctly. Question: was your kitchen not supposed to be Oyster Linea, did you change it to licorice? Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1034Feb 09, 2013 6:05 pm Looking great Jen. Congratulations. Keep the move in pics coming! Re: HomegroupWA in Success - we have keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1035Feb 09, 2013 8:26 pm Thanks everyone!! So glad to have the painting done! Serial Builder you are right! It was going to be oyster lines but we changed it to amari oak! I hope the wood flooring is going to look ok as we have ended up with very similar colours with the cupboards and flooring. Eeeep!!!
