Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 26, 2011 12:43 pm my new kitchen will be a traditional style with wood cabinetry and stone benchtops. I'd love a butler sink but have decided against ceramic as too many people tell me things break all the time if you drop them in, compared to stainless. I've looked online for stainless steel butler sinks but none of them appear to have the draining part on the side. I hate water on the benchtops so I must have a draining part. I would like two big bowls ideally, with draining sections. Has anyone seen this in a stainless butler style? The only problem I see with a double drainer is the ugly factor! Practicality wise I love it, my mum has a double sink and double drainer and it's just so super handy... but in a lovely new traditional style kitchen it might look fug. I'll have a tonne of benchspace elsewhere, so taking up space isn't an issue. For taps, I love the vintage old-style ones but I haven't seen any mixers in this style. I don't want separate hot and cold taps if I can help it. I don't want a modern looking tap. I love this following tap but not the separate hot-cold: http://www.kitcheners.com.au/_data/docs ... gn_m04.jpg Any recs on where I can look? thank you! Re: traditional style kitchen: taps and sinks? 2Jul 26, 2011 11:04 pm My Mum bought a traditional style mixer tap through Reece. My Brother worked there at the time, though, so not sure if it was a special order. It doesn't have separate hot and cold sides, so probably similar to what you are after. I do recall it was quite expensive! I might have a pic, but I'm on phone at the moment! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! I can find double stainless steel butlers sinks but, as you've found, they don't have the drainers. A separate drain board that just sits there all the time may be the way to go. That's what we've opted for in our butlers pantry. I have opted for a laundry tub sink but we'll have drain trays in there and in the main kitchen. I also found some antique taps here;http://www.sinkwarehouse.com.au/products-page/kitchens-2/sink-mixers/antiqua-sink-mixers/, ...one of them is a single mixer tap. They also do the stainless drain trays. All that I can tell you is it was from Reece, but no idea of make, name, or price. I can find out more details for you, if you like. Those taps are all lovely! Now I'm leaning more towards a double stainless butler sink (maybe even one) with a separate draining tray. I forgot to add that I'm in Melbourne, if it helps. Re: traditional style kitchen: taps and sinks? 7Aug 11, 2011 5:20 pm I have a ceramic butler sink. You are able to buy rubber liners for the bottoms of them so you do not get marks from pots and pans and do not get breakages. We've not had a breakage and have been using it for around 6 months. Also, to get around not having a drainer, we have a tray drainer - it actually came with our under mount sink which was used in the laundry. after we dry up, we dry it and it goes away under the sink.
