Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 13926Jan 16, 2017 12:56 pm Hurrow We also went to Ikea this morning to have a look at their options for fitting out the walk in wardrobe, it's looking like we should be able to get a pretty complete system for about 2k which I'm guessing is going to be a hell of a lot cheaper than what is available through Porter Davis. So a pretty productive weekend! Hey Hurrow, WoS is a mysterious beast and it's good you have gone and made some selections prior to actually building. As far as getting final pricing early and just making sure you're contract is correct on the day... I wouldn't hold my breath on this one... PD are exceptionally secretive about everything until the morning you walk into the contract and they place it in front of you As far as the wardrobe goes PD are very competitive as long as you stay reasonable... we paid $2600 for a complete fit out of the master WIR most importantly we don't have to set it up and it's covered under the builders warranty!! So I would suggest you give the PD people a go on the day Home Blog: https://waldorfgrange.wordpress.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 13927Jan 16, 2017 1:07 pm Naama If you wrote down the various color choice for your bricks and roof then if you google them and go to the image search part you should find at least one pic of it. Another thing I did to find my brick color on a finished house was write the type in this forum search box. give it a try and see if you like it. Thanks for the suggestion on googling the colours, I've had a bit of a look and it looks okish. At some stage we may just drive around a few estates to see what has worked for other people as well and get some ideas. We want the exterior of our house to be pretty ordinary, so if anyone drives past and says wow that looks awesome or that looks terrible then we've stuffed up. Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis homes 13928Jan 16, 2017 1:18 pm It sounds like PD might not be terrible price wise for the WIR, we’ll see what they have to say at least. We actually don’t mind Ikea and it’s great that it’s modular and you can put in or take out whatever you want, so if it ends up being the Swedes then we’ll both be fine with that. I’m pretty sure that for the other bedrooms it’s just going to be the default and then a chest of drawers or bedside drawers if required. So I would suggest you give the PD people a go on the day I'm definitely happy that we went up and had a look, I'm hopeful that one more visit in advance will be all we need from here. It does sound pretty BS on the pricing/contract side of things, but so long as they aren't seriously expecting that I'm actually going to sign it on the day rather than taking it away to check everything then it should be fine in the end. I had a look at your blog, what colour roof have you gone for there and what render/paint are you planning on having with it? We're looking at a greyish colorbond roof (Wallaby was our preferred colour) and some lighter sort of render over the Hebel, so I'd be interested in knowing what you've got and any pics would be great too! My husband went past our place today and everything is being finished off. We just noticed this hideous 'return air vent' though in our entry way... it looks horrible!!! One regret we didnt even think about and its ruined our entry way. img]https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/70864_1484617916.jpg[/img] Re: Porter Davis homes 13931Jan 17, 2017 12:34 pm lizbf85 So as you might know we have our PCI soon and should know this time next week when it will be. Your entryway looks different to what I imagine it's going to look like. How upsetting to just realizing it after it's already done. Maybe try to imagine what you'll put next to it so it won't stand out so much. Maybe try to imagine what you'll put next to it so it won't stand out so much. im not even sure we can move it, we are going to talk to the ss, just not surprised no one really brought it to out attention. and say ' hey by the way your entry will be ruiend by an ugly vent" Lets be honest its not something, even after studying plans, we knew what we were looking at . It just would have been nice if it was put on the north facing wall where it wasn't so in your face! there is plenty of room. The aesthetics def weren't taken into consideration. Yes sorry, same hallway just a slight bend in the hallway wall, i actually preferred it, it felt alot more open.... although now i hate it becasue this stupid thing looks terrible Re: Porter Davis homes 13940Jan 17, 2017 5:47 pm Oh no, can you try and put a lush green indoor plant there as a distraction?
