Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 13574Oct 18, 2016 9:29 pm Yes we had to get our own big pain in the behind as they told us way too late had no idea about getting permits and ended up costing us thousands for reports and fees to get it not to mention an extra 2 months of wasted time Re: Porter Davis homes 13575Oct 19, 2016 10:19 am Hi Everyone, I need your suggestion on this one. We are building a Rochford 34M with Balmain facade. There is a down-pipe on the feature wall and it spoils the look (Please refer picture below). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We had explicitly informed the BC during consultations to not have any down-pipes in the facade. She assured us that there were none and we did not notice any pipes in the drawings as well. I put the issue about down-pipe on feature wall across to BC and supervisor to check if the pipe can be relocated. They informed that there was nothing they could do as I had signed the drawings and pointed me to the small note mentioned on pipe. I'm not a design engineer and fail to understand to the detail Has anyone had a similar issue or experience? Even otherwise, please do suggest on how I can remove or relocate the pipe from the feature wall? Thanks much Re: Porter Davis homes 13576Oct 19, 2016 12:07 pm walks lizbf85 shanis33 They look awesome! Our render was done pretty much straight away but the final colour coat was week before we got keys so it's not damaged Thanks!! that dreaded render colour im so nervous about it lol the bricks also arent as bad as i thought either, but im spewing because i wish we went with the off white mortar all the photos ive seen online i love are off white and i didn't realize. At leas the whole front will be render so we will only see the backyard and sideway! Is that Natural mortar that you've gone with? yep it is one thing i wish we didnt.... however we are render to whole front of house so we really arent going to see alot of brick. im guess once it dries itll look better Re: Porter Davis homes 13577Oct 19, 2016 12:09 pm shanis33 lizbf85 shanis33 They look awesome! Hopefully at some point we will render the rest or maybe paint brick yeh like i said its only the sideway and back yard thats not render, ill prob get over it soon enough when i start seeing whats inside and start furniture shopping haha i just know if we didnt do things at build we would never do it hahah so we accepted the $1200 charge render the entire front Re: Porter Davis homes 13578Oct 19, 2016 12:11 pm Rickardo05 Has anyone here been required to go to local council and get their own planning permits? My Building coordinator contacted me and requested that I get the approval. we got very involved with our council for all sorts of things... that could have been one of them. at one point my husband was talking with pd's engineers, the council and melb water to sort out our leagl point of dischagre issues. its rediculas, as a customer you'd think they would be doing that, as we had no idea what we were even doing. Worst case could you just paint it the same colour as the render making it less noticeable? might not be the fix your after, just a suggestion. Thanks much I don't think there is a lot that can be done about it or that they had a choice, it's the lowest part of the house and the water needs to go somewhere. Don't worry too much I think it looks pretty good. Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12337 Ask for references and speak to them.
