We knew straight away it wasnt going to be fully boxed up and ready for inspection on Tuesday arvo... it was completed yesterday by 12 so it took all day Wednesday to box. No pour for us due to wet and next week showers every day... yay!! To answer ur question boxing andpouring on same day looks unlikely. Esp if u have an inspector So your block is still empty with no marerials? What size is your home and how many days r listed in your contract to build. Im very courious as ours is crazy. 31 square 268 days. i havent been back up as i have the flu but did get a call friday to call of the pour for the seocnd time due to weather...no surprise there...booked in for early this week so fingers crossed, they said the slab prep and boxing would be up by monday as we are having it inspected. Re: Porter Davis homes 13493Sep 13, 2016 7:46 pm Anyone else got squeaky floorboards? We had our 3 month inspection and pointed them out only to be told that they wouldn't fix them till the house is 18 months old. Has anyone else been told this? The VBA lists creaking floorboards as defective if less than 24 months old and I really don't see why I should have to live with creaky floorboards for 18 months because some lazy tradie didn't do his job properly. I appreciate the house will settle over time and more may appear, but surely they should be fixing any that exist now and address anything new at the 18 month stage? Yes ours squeak and groan, are no where near what they should be. That's terrible that they won't fix for 18mths!!!! Did you have your inspection bang on 3 mths or was it later? I haven't even been contacted and ours is 3mths in a week! Also did you have issues with quality of paintwork in the house? If so did they say they will rectify it? Not sure why my previous response was blank - sorry about that. Yes, it is bad being made to wait. Funny how they gave me only 7 days to make payments, but have given themselves 18 months to fix issues. We also had issues with paintwork. My biggest gripe being that it's not really the 3 coats of washable paint listed in the contract as they have to water it down that much to get it through the spray gun that it loses all it's washable properties. Our paint is that thin that my 18month old can scratch it off the wall with his fingers. We had a wall rolled with a single coat of paint as part of our 3 month fix up and it looks so much better. The rolling gives it some texture and you can tell it's much thicker than the rest when you touch it. The tradie even told us we'd be able to wash this wall when he'd finished - but probably not the others. I'm tempted to complain and see if they'll roll the whole house as the contract states washable and in it's current state all but the rolled wall definitely isn't washable. We have shiny spots on walls where we've tried to be as light as possible when removing marks. We're also getting our staircase sanded and restained as the quality of the finish is awful. Re: Porter Davis homes 13496Sep 14, 2016 3:13 pm Hi All, I am looking to build my house with PD,can you please suggest a good sales staff member in Melbourne, preferably in northern suburbs . Porter Davis homes 13497Sep 15, 2016 12:21 am We have our three month coming up and fortunately haven't got too many issues to address, the flapping in the ceiling, especially above our bedroom, is the main concern. I agree though that the pain quality is poor. We have streaks all across ours where my husband has put an electronic level. Our problem for that but surely it's not supposed to leave such clear impressions, and the paint has come clean off the edge of one of our doors. I get the feeling that in general we've been pretty lucky with the quality of our build. *** Side note, we finally had our curtains installed today. If anyone is considering using Dollar Curtains & Blinds after handover, I'd recommend seeing if you can get them in early to measure up & be prepared for headaches . Took us six weeks for our order to be ready, only to discover on install day that the bedroom curtains were made to the wrong length (we at least got the blinds in the living area in then). It then took another 3 weeks for the curtains, 9 weeks in total We're happy with the quality of the product but the service was a nightmare, a ton of poor communication & other issues too numerous to mention here. We still not moving anywhere- 9 months after tender (11 months after sales) and we still don't have build permit. But last Friday it's still on track for 23/9 site start apparently..... I'll believe it when I see it. But I'm going overseas for three weeks the night before! so I'm going to get The independent inspector to take photos for me. That sux. I get weather being the hold up in some cases but i also think its an easy excuse. Us for example. Poured slab monday and it was wet so honestly didn't expect it. Then yesterday to our surprise were told Tuesday that our frame was ready to go!! Knowing they usually let the slab sit for a few days, yesterday driving past i was so surprised when i noticed workers sitting in the rain under a tarp with a whole heap of timber ready to frame. Drove past again in the arvo and they had completed some of the base frame. I was impressed! But now dont want to jinx it!! What location are you in Melbourne?
