This is what we were told at WOS and it completely influenced the type of tile we selected as I really wanted tiny grout lines. That is what we were told at WOS... we have the same size and type tiles as you. Yep, we got told that too, same tiles, only it's not we ended up with ... our grout is 3mm. Something else we're annoyed about, but we've got bigger fish to fry at the moment! For anyone going through the selection process now, wanting 1.5mm grout, I would get that written into a PCV as a clarification, so they can't argue with you later. I just went to look and the tiler said it's 2mm not 3mm. I measured it 3mm. I really don't understand them. I said to him we wanted and paid for smallest grout line. Seriously annoyed but will tackle it via SS who said it will be 1.5 grout only 2 days ago. Maybe I measured wrong (unlikely). Re: Porter Davis homes 11352May 07, 2015 4:14 pm Pungentia MichaelQ We are also looking Embleton Pilbara and Arc Australiana bamboo flooring. Have you had any luck differentiating between the 2 manufacturers? Given the variation between batches, we're finding it a difficult exercise. I've found it hard to see the actual product in store and almost impossible to get a sample. Embleton seems to have slightly more coats of protective covering for most colours as far as I can tell and the bonus is that it is available at the place in the Eastern Suburbs near Ikea where we think we will purchase our flooring. Quickstep Arc isn't available through them at all. They also sell about another 5 brands of bamboo, and Embleton is the most pricey of those. Then I've googled for pictures of the Pilbara but haven't liked the look of it in situ in some pictures (too much colour variation leading it to look patchy), but maybe it is partially how it is laid? So now I'm erring back on the side of Arc, purely on the basis of colour, if I can find it at a good price. That said, I don't think you can go too wrong though with either brand. I picked up a sample of the Pilbara today which consists of 3 separate pieces (as it's made up of 3 different colors). With the laying, they advised the installers will lay then as them come out of the box. Agree the samples seem to have more variation than the store display. The low risk option is to go for one of the solid colors as there will be less variation. Decisions decision.... ------------------------------------------- Build Thread - Mainvue Emporio ER430 KDR https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76790&p=1332227&hilit=mainvue#p1332227 Re: Porter Davis homes 11353May 07, 2015 11:00 pm Question: If you upgrade your ceilings to 2740mm does the height of the ensuite mirrors (and powder room) increase, or is there a larger gap between the top of the mirror and the cornice? My drawings say "full height mirror within 20mm of cornice" but with the way Porter davis are building my house, who knows what ill actually get... Re: Porter Davis homes 11355May 08, 2015 10:25 am Hi all, I've just done my PCI yesterday and it went quite well besides some small issues. However, I'm not really happy with my undermount sink. As seen in the picture, the benchtop is encroaching the top of the sink, making it not level with the 2 sides of the sink. Shouldn't the benchtop sit on the edge of the sink only, and not the bowl itself? Could someone shed some light on this? P.S. I've talked to my SS about this but he said this is normal. What sink are you supposed to have? Your cutout looks like it goes with the AFA Cubeline which is what we have. And installed, ours looks like this picture on reece's website where the cutout follows the lines of the sink. http://www.reece.com.au/bathrooms/products/afa/afa-cubeline-double-undermount-kitchen-sink-9500399 Knockdown rebuild in zone 4 Sandringham 45 with Alfresco option Illinois Facade Re: Porter Davis homes 11360May 08, 2015 6:42 pm tlblhayward joea To all that are looking to build with PD.
