Was reading the paper work Coral sent me and it stated that a structural variation will cost $500 as plans had to be redrawn and any other variations will incure an admin fee of $100 per variation. I can understand the structural variation but in regards to the others the salesman i have dealt with never passed on this information so i was of the understanding that something could be removed with no dramas or $$ fee.. Thanks Damien Yep ... $100 for every standard variation and then when I added a vanity into the WC (well before plans went to Council etc) I was hit with a $250 variation. Im really not sure how they work out what is charged as a variation and whats not... At colour selection I changed ovens, what size front door I was having, took out their vanity in powder room and added my own Etc and wasnt charged a cent... however I wanted a russian toffee "sparkle" splashback instead of just a russian toffee splashback in the kitchen and they wanted to charge me $100 .. Unfortunately the glass splashback people couldnt do the sparkle in russian toffee but at least I saved $100 lol Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 53Jul 11, 2011 3:19 pm debba-m Im really not sure how they work out what is charged as a variation and whats not... Mind you I'm actually dreading the mirrored wardrobes as I'll be cleaning 'kissey' lips and lick marks off them - thanks to my 2 year old. She left her mark all around the windows at her height at the display homes, licked all of them Anyone getting ducted air-conditioning through Coral (or their own sub-contractors)? I'd love to see what the air-con plans are as I've just been sent mine (by our sub contractor) and he wants to put the air return grill in the entrance to the dining room How unattractive will that look!! ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 54Jul 11, 2011 5:04 pm ESB debba-m Im really not sure how they work out what is charged as a variation and whats not... I was amazed at how cheap the mirror doors are too. Most of my upgrades had been done before tender so I didn't get any surprises in the variation from our colour appointment. We have ducted air conditioning - we went through Coral. Our friends had the same system and they did it themselves and the price was compariable to Corals - for the sake of all the hassle we just got Coral to organise and do it. Will try and find plans for u. We have 2 return grills - 1 in kitchen area and 1 in kids activity room.. They dont look the best do they http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=48685 Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 56Jul 11, 2011 10:17 pm We have't got airconditioning. We are only having it in the master bedroom, coz hubby is a shift worker and it too hot to sleep during the day in summer. We have spent $4500 upgrading all our insulation and have put plenty of doors, windows, and security screens to allow the breeze to come through. We also have ceiling fans everywhere. Tamara ... I'm hoping we'll catch alot of the sea breezes, plus we've got fans in every room, but I know in the height of summer I'll need the air-con - I'm a wuss with the heat and yep, we moved north to warmer weather. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 58Jul 11, 2011 10:29 pm Fair enough. We had aircon in the living areas and all the bedrooms in our last house. Our power bill was so high in the summer. We are getting solar power too, so it would drive me insane having solar and running aircon units lol. Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 59Jul 11, 2011 10:33 pm Tamara1975 Fair enough. Hubby is obsessed wih solar. He has so many calls from solar companies coming in at the moment. One guy was at our house for 2.5 hours the other night giving us the cheesiest sales pitch. They were very expensive. He made out like we were being offered a great deal, but we let him carry on for our entertainment knowing we weren't going to sign up.
