Spent the last month reading 800 over pages of this thread and a few others. Thanks to those who had endlessly shared their progress and updates in addition to all the valuable tips. Find it really useful for a first-time builder here. Finally decided to go ahead with Clarendon - deposit paid for an Oceanside 36 with slight modifications 2 weeks ago. Just received a call for the tender presentation on 9th Dec. Yet to receive our soil and contour results (expected this week) but we have made sufficient (hopefully) provisions and allowances for that based on inputs by sales consultant, in addition to the electrical and other upgrades ie. flooring, appliances, kitchen, bathrooms and blinds etc. Understand that the colour selection appointment will only be done after we have signed the building contract. Are we still allowed to go beyond our provisions for upgrades ie. electrical, kitchen and bathroom specs were provided for 20k but during selection we upgraded items worth 35k (not structural changes) during the colour selection? Would that be deemed as a PCV? Building a Oceanside 36 @ Kellyville Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16316Oct 25, 2016 8:22 pm wingzee Hi all! Long-time lurker here. Yes, you can definitely go over provisions at selection appointment - we didn't have provisions so started from scratch at the appointment. The only thing I would STRONGLY suggest is not signing any paperwork on the spot because they'll charge you an arm and leg to change anything after sign off and speaking from experience, you'll want to make changes after the appointment. It will also give you a chance to pick up on any mistakes made...we got everything we wanted costed up and made a wish list before hand in order of preference so we knew what were high priorities and what weren't. It's easy to go way over budget when you're caught up in the excitement of it all which is why we the culled over the week following the appointments. Hope this helps and Goodluck! viewtopic.php?t=83651 Building a modified Sheridan 35 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16317Oct 25, 2016 8:39 pm leeleh ajedi2k bk84 Hi Gambit79 sorry to be a downer but don't hold your breath for bricks... we had our slab down end of may and they only just finished our ground floor bricks 2 weeks ago (we're building a double storey). Not sure about now but we were told there was a shortage of bricklayers hence the massive delay Yeh this is what my SS told me. he said he's got contacts and does all the booking for all trades except brick work. brickies are booked by Clarendon head office. they manage and decide where/when the next job is going to be. so there will be delays with brick work. If it's organised well, there shouldn't be a delay. Our bricks started as soon as the frame was done at the end of week 8 and they were complete at the start of week 12. So just over 3 weeks. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82062 Madison 37 - site start 16.2.16 Haha. You were a lucky one. We were bricking at the same time almost and ours took about 3 -4 months to finish bricks. Who's building with Clarendon?? 16319Oct 26, 2016 6:41 am Exciting Leese. Enjoy!! So I thought it was time I started on our new build.. A little background. In 2014 we put a deposit on a 623m2 flat block of land in a lovely estate at the base of the Gold Coast hinterland minutes from where we had been living for the previous 8 years. Long delays with registration of that block meant we didn't start building until May 2015 and we had handover of our lovely Sheridan 38 on October 1st 2015. Took us just a few months to decide we wanted more space for our 3 ever growing boys and quickly put a deposit down on a 1220m2 block of land in the next stage of the same estate. This time with bush surrounds, stunning views and only one neighbour. We put our beloved Sheridan on the market and waited 3 loooong months to get a sale. Fast forward to now and we are still waiting on registration of our new land which hopefully won't be far off with survey plans being in council for plan sealing now for over 6 weeks. Last Tuesday we signed a contract to build with Clarendon again with the World of Luxury Promotion (Qld) This time we are building a Fairmont 38 with the contemporary facade. Although we have a big block of land we were restricted by a bush fire asset protection zone which we were unable to build our house outside of so we were still limited to what would fit on the block. Fairmont fitted perfectly to the strange triangular building pad. Electrical appointment is booked for tomorrow and colour selection Monday 31st and tile selection Tuesday 1st. So surreal that we are doing this all over again so soon. Exciting at the same time though. Will attach our plans below.
