Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Gogo's going to build a house 4Apr 22, 2011 2:40 pm Good one, Gogo.
Anyway, nothing to stop us from sharing our building experiences still! I have chosen to build with H as they have the perfect design that allows me to enjoy the full benefits of parklands at my back and side. That's the easy part; the tough part is my initial budget has already blown over ( and this is before electricals appt, upgrades, drive way, etc) Looks like I have signed my life away to the banks! Nice to hear from you, hope we can keep chatting. Cheers. Mee2 Gogo's going to build a house 6Apr 22, 2011 3:17 pm The house plans are awesome and separate bathrooms for each room, great idea. Mee2 Absolutely mee2, will definitely follow your build, it's great to see people at the same stage, the whole what the hell am I doing stage Re: Gogo's going to build a house 8Apr 22, 2011 3:45 pm Congrats for your new thread, gogo!! Love your new plan ... Re: Gogo's going to build a house 9Apr 22, 2011 3:46 pm kiwi congrats!!! Thanks Kiwi, I appreciated your help in getting in right! Cooped07 The house plans are awesome and separate bathrooms for each room, great idea. Thanks Cooped. Bed 3 and 4 will share, but bed 4 is just the spare room, we are still deciding about adding ensuite access to Bed 3 for our son, mind you he doesn't want it cause I said he would have to clean it Re: Gogo's going to build a house 12Apr 22, 2011 4:03 pm gogo65 Oh thankyou, I loooove my ensuite. 4 metre walk through shower, will have a full glass panel between bath and shower. Just deciding between a freestanding bath or a normal one. Free-standing.. hands down As it is the centrepiece of the room it needs to make a statement, not just propped up against that magnificent glass wall! Re: Gogo's going to build a house 14Apr 22, 2011 4:21 pm Quite aptly phrased, Gogo! I am very excited by the idea of my new home laced with rather daunting thoughts too.On top of this, I will be seeing this through all by myself as DH works some 4000 miles away and this leaves me to arm wrestle with the builders Love your plans, so much space for EVERYTHING! I've got a smallish block which doesn't leave me with much options/space for things I would love to have (like a free standing spa bath in the ensuite). Also, mindful of add ons as price will just keep spiralling up. Looking to sharing this roller coaster journey on your thread! Mee2 Re: Gogo's going to build a house 15Apr 22, 2011 4:43 pm gogo65 Oh but Snoofie, I would have to clean behind it Oh and where on earth do I put my wine Ahhh.... got that figured out... the Wine goes in the wine fridge you have installed in the Vanity cabinets (in the centre between the two basins)... and to solve the cleaning behind the tub - just try not to splash as you get out of the tub to grab the next bottle!!! Re: Gogo's going to build a house 16Apr 22, 2011 4:47 pm Mee2, I have a persoanl trainer and I go to boot camp, so I will be able to help you arm wrestle the builder I cant imagine doing this with DH so far away what a challenge! It certainly is exciting but so very daunting and just knowing from the beginning that it isnt going to be a smooth ride is so damn scary. Look forward to sharing the rollercoaster Re: Gogo's going to build a house 17Apr 22, 2011 4:49 pm snoofie gogo65 Oh but Snoofie, I would have to clean behind it Oh and where on earth do I put my wine Ahhh.... got that figured out... the Wine goes in the wine fridge you have installed in the Vanity cabinets (in the centre between the two basins)... and to solve the cleaning behind the tub - just try not to splash as you get out of the tub to grab the next bottle!!! hehe, I like your thinking snoofie Re: Gogo's going to build a house 18Apr 22, 2011 5:11 pm Thanks for the kind offer of your personal trainer Wow, boot camp, too
I had one prior experience building my house (in bonny Malaysia) some ten years ago; built up size was about 90sqs and I had to deal with one main contractor and 11 sub cons. Wore a hard hat for 2 years on site while keeping the tradies on their toes. Looking back, those were absolutely the craziest two years of my life! My present needs are different now; down sizing as both mine and DH's old folks have thus left us for a better place. Also, with 3 sons, you never know who will or won't stay with us so I am building for some peace and quiet...not forgetting working within a rather tight budget. Back to reality check. Anyway, I am definitely going single storey too in preparation for the aches and pains some 20 years (hopefully!) down the line Have a good Easter! Mee2 Re: Gogo's going to build a house 19Apr 22, 2011 5:19 pm 90sq I suppose in Malaysia, you had a little help cleaning I know its hard working out what our needs are going to be in 10-20 years down the track, I know my kids wont be moving out soon so may as well have enough space so they dont annoy me too much Re: Gogo's going to build a house 20Apr 22, 2011 5:50 pm Bingo Plenty of help then! I guess my boys are here to stay for some time more as we are a pretty close knit family unit; but you never know where/when work takes them away. I must now sieve through the house design and make sure I don't make any boo-boos along the way. Since following this blog, I have learnt so much in such a short time; eternally thankful for all who have been ever thoughtful of new builders like ourselves. I will definitely post my thoughts on dos and don'ts as the house plans are better fine tuned. When my son returns from Msia from his school break, I will recruit his help to post some of my house plans for you to have a browse (Apologies as I'm a newbie where cyberspace stuff are concerned, a computer dinosaur ) Go for your free standing bath/spa ; you won't regret this! Mee2 I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15284 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17063 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 11648 |
