Re: Any recommendations and cost of crossover in WA 5Feb 26, 2011 9:59 pm Is there any rules to stop you doing it yourself? Then you could get away with just buying materials? Or not the handyman type The road to success is always under construction House completed April 2011 - slowly making it a home... Re: Any recommendations and cost of crossover in WA 6Feb 27, 2011 5:13 pm I'd also be interested in knowing this. We have about 24 sqm to pave, and the quotes have been around $1800 mark as well for paved including bricks, and $1100 for concrete Re: Any recommendations and cost of crossover in WA 7Feb 28, 2011 10:58 am yep you can do it yourself if you want. mine was about 1750 for 25ish sqm. the broken down cost was: 350 bobcat work and soil removal 750 pavers delivered 200 crushed limestone and paving sand delivered 450 paving guy 20 white sand for filling the gaps if you skimp on the limestone you might be able to get away without the bobcat work. otherwise if you happen to see the people clearing your site, might be able to get them to remove the additional dirt for less. check the cost of the paving guys for my paving the quotes i got were between 400-800. I went with Country Rhodes Pavers in rockingham. he did a pretty good job and was reliable. not sure about someone in the north. I would recommend getting someone whos listed in the yellow pages or similar, unless you've seen their work. Re: Any recommendations and cost of crossover in WA 8Feb 28, 2011 11:43 am What does the bobcat do? Just dig about 20cm deep all around? Or does it do something else? I'm happy to dig with a shovel to that depth if it saves me $350ish.. or does a bobcat do other stuff too? Also, alot of councils will pay you back a certain amount> Armadale council pay back $400... but you need the limestone base for that, as part of their requirements. Re: Any recommendations and cost of crossover in WA 9Feb 28, 2011 6:24 pm not really the handyman type lol.. But if its gonna save us about $2k then think we may have to rethink that.. A guy at work has his own company and said he would do it for less than $500 for us but we still have to get the limestone etc and pavers.. I looked on the midland brick website at the cost and its about $200 for 240 pavers. We have quite a few left over and going to pull up the ones they laid out the back and use them too.. So then its just digging the extra sand instead of using a bobcat (my dad has one at his work if we need it anyway).. I guess then we can opt to either lay them ourselves or pay a few hundred to get someone to lay them.. As far as Im aware after looking on the city of swan website, they dont pay back anything.. If anyone knows any different, I would be interested to know [b]Building with Affordable Living..Trump Promo sign up Dec09, Block Title May 2010, Prestart 24/06, Slab down 18/09, PCI 22/2, The Big Move... 18/04/11. I looked at doing it myself, but I didnt have the couple of days required to do it myself and there is also the trailer hire and disposal cost for 5 cubic meters of soil. so for me it was worth the money. Interesting... So if I dig 20cm of soil out in that area, fill it with limestone base (where can I get some?), it should save the bobcat hire? I have been quoted around 450 for bobcat hire by the crossover people. Re: Any recommendations and cost of crossover in WA 13Mar 02, 2011 12:11 am you can get the limestone base and paving sand from a local soil and landscaping supplier. look up Landscape Supplies in the yellowpages. probably worth getting them to deliver as its only $20-$30 for local delivery. usually its 100mm of limestone base and 40-50 mm of paving sand i think. your council should be able to tell you the requirements. Re: Any recommendations and cost of crossover in WA 14Mar 03, 2011 3:39 pm Bump Anyone recommend a cheap paver/crossover doing person? Re: Any recommendations and cost of crossover in WA 15Mar 03, 2011 11:52 pm I was told by our CLO to do it after handover and get the guy that did the rest of our driveway to do it. It will probably cost a fortune which im hoping im wrong about... but we need it done.. Been looking on gumtree and in the local paper so will see how much this guy comes up with then compare to the others..
