I always see comments about 'heat shields', particularly in reference to ovens and vinyl wrap.
Does anyone know what a heat shield is and where I can buy one?

It is usually just a metal strip at either or both the sides of the oven and at the top front edge of the oven. Its action is simply to prevent the very hot air that will come from the oven when the door is opened from impinging on any near-bye vinyl wrap or any other surface type and so damaging it. So ask about or inspect your desired oven to see if it has these metallic edges/surfaces/heat shields in place and if it does all that happens is the oven is slid into its compartment and the shields do their thing. barkly Re: heat shield 4Feb 23, 2011 5:01 pm Some suppliers, such as Polytec, supply their own "heatshield" which is basically a shaped metal strip that sits between your oven and the neighbouring boards, it extends to the edge of the boards to "protect" them. If you don't install their proprietary heat shield they will not cover you with their warranty if there is any heat damage. But speaking of warranty, most Vinyl Wrap warranties only cover the supply of replacement product, not the installation. If you have an oven in a tall unit, for example, and one of the tall boards is heat damaged, you will have to find a way to remove the end panel from between the other cabinets as the board supplier will not help you. Ask for a copy of the warranty and read it very carefully before you make a decision to buy the product. Cheers, Earl There may be answers here but can't find anything.
