Tended my cuttings. lost 3 to rot. Dragon flies and Damsel flies milling around the pond. Can't find my Orb weavers, the massive amounts of rain must be starving them. Cat was not happy, so we had to apologise with some good cooked food and lots of fuss.

Fingers crossed Ill still have some seedlings left tomorrow morning. Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 27Jan 14, 2011 1:05 pm Yup that is them exactly. Some bigger ones and smaller ones. I do have a nice habit of killing plants adn these are hardy as well as being free so I took them. Shh dont tell. Me too. Lovely weather for it. Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 31Jan 16, 2011 8:44 pm Today I continued installing my timber edging (and my sandstone decorative pavers). Sick of DH slicing up my Bromeliads with the damn whipper snipper. Now he can see the LINE. The garden is on this side and you don't cut anything. The lawn is on THAT side, yes you can cut there. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 32Jan 16, 2011 8:47 pm kexkez picked cherry tomatoes and following advice from LIsanne and Deemaree I've surrounded my few remaining seedlings with circles cut from plastic bottles to try and keep the slaters at bay. I surround the plant with a barrier of coffee grounds. The other day, thru the kitchen window I suddenly spotted some knee high weeds close to the back fence (it seemed like it grew overnight!! it wasn't there a few days ago) - but weeds have grown fast everywhere else too with the recent rains ... Today I walked aaaaaallll the way there to admire our huge potato plants (self-grown and self-cared-for) growing in our compost heap close to the fence - I was shocked to see that the knee-high weed are cherry tomatoes and already in flower. So that's what I've "done" My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 34Jan 16, 2011 10:31 pm I dug 2 vegie patches in the lawn. Faced them north south 1m wide by 1.5m long with an 900mm gap between beds. It was tough hard dripping work. Used a spade and had to dig about 5-8 cm down to get the buffalo grass roots out. Turned it over with a fork before adding compost and the left over cow manure. Then planted the vege, added dynamic lifter and watered it all. Patch 1 corn, tomato and basil Patch 2 brussel sprouts, brocolli and leeks. Had 2 leeks left over and put them in the old vegie bed that the previous tenants left. I think the leeks need to grow out more before dividing them again and then making them into single leeks. Bought sugar cane mulch 1 bale, 2 cow and compost bags, 2 premium potting mixes and 1x 35L bag of dynaic lifter. I tried to soak the sugar cane mulch befroe putting it over the new vegie patch by cutting it open an putting the hose on it for a while. It would work bestif fully soaked. Might need to leave it longer to soak next time. I potted up the corriander to keep in the shade so it doesn't bolt too quickly. My wife potted up the vegies: butter lettuce and rocket and Oregano, parsley, chives. I dug out a trench at the front and a friend yee wha added the cow and compost before my wife planted the gerberias and petunias. My wife and her 2 friends also trimmed the front hedge so people can actually walk on the footpath now. My wife potted up the vegies: butter lettuce and rocket and Oregano, parsley, chives.
