Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 15, 2010 11:24 am We're planning a custom build (townhouses) but I'm keen to go and look at some display homes to get a feel for what we like and don't like! We live in inner Melbourne. Can anyone recommend an estate where there are a number of upmarket display houses we could look at? Anything with townhouses or medium density would be ideal, but I realise that could be pushing my luck. Many thanks. Re: Where should we go today - display homes in Melbourne. H 2Aug 15, 2010 11:41 am I can't think of anything that would have that off the top of my head. I would still just head to a standard display village for ideas. Some builders have designs to suit narrow lots which could give you ideas. Maybe from inner city, you could go to Caroline Springs and then Williams Landing which is a new village with heaps of displays. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I think we might even start there and see how we go. We have two small children so I suspect we won't get through that many before someone makes themselves unwelcome . Re: Where should we go today - display homes in Melbourne. H 4Aug 15, 2010 11:49 am I found the best thing was playing "pick your room" with my son. Made each house seem more interesting and made him feel involved. And the promise of maccas on the way home is usually a winner. Good luck! H 6Aug 15, 2010 5:54 pm So, we went to Williams Landing and it was very interesting (we also got Maccas on the way home, but that's another story...) I am astounded by how big the houses are, but I think they probably show a lot of big ones for display homes. Very impressed with one from Carlisle. Having seen the prices, I am now even more outraged than I already was that we were quoted about $300K to add a kitchen and laundry to our house and install a wall of windows! May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner? I'm actually meeting with one of the sales guys tomorrow for an appointment. Definitely not signing anything yet… 3 13208 wondering anyone built with omaxe homes and care to share their experiences. thanks 0 13782 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 15822 |
