Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 01, 2010 7:01 pm I am about to try my hand in laying turf on may backyard and lawn. The area is combined 80 sq m. I am looking for supplier of good organic soil and I stumbled upon The Green Centre located at Keilor Park. http://www.thegreencentre.com.au/index.html They are doing their own composting in the site and selling 'lawn and garden blend organic soil' at $44 m3. Has anyone tried them? What is the result? Any supplier you will suggest here in west? Thanks! Re: Looking for organic soil supplier West Melbourne 2Sep 28, 2010 7:43 pm Hi Enzo, Did you have any luck with getting organic soil from the Green Centre? Is their organic soil certified? Does anyone know where I could buy certified organic soil in Melbourne? I will need a truck load so will need to be delivered also? Re: Looking for organic soil supplier West Melbourne 3Sep 28, 2010 11:25 pm I'd contact BAAG about this. They may not have it in bulk but they do have their finger on the pulse in Victoria Re: Looking for organic soil supplier West Melbourne 4Oct 05, 2010 4:35 pm Hi Enzo, did you manage to get some soil from the green centre? BAAG sells organic soil but only in bags so that may be a pain for you. I need more soil for my garden beds and need around 15 bags so am tempted to go out and look for soil i can chuck in a trailor. Re: Looking for organic soil supplier West Melbourne 5Oct 05, 2010 8:37 pm Hi KGJB & Lissy Loo, Yeah, I did order 8 cubic meters of Lawn & Blend Organic Soil from them @ $45 per cubic meter plus delivery charges of $30. I compared this with 3 garden suppliers in our place while green centre, I was convinced by the fact that when I visited their site in Keilor they are the one producing it. Hopefully, following Fu's recommendations in laying turf everything will turn well. Re: Looking for organic soil supplier West Melbourne 6Oct 06, 2010 12:39 am Hard to say without seeing, feeling and smelling the soil for myself. I do have concerns with what I use verses what you can get and the results achieved. Like having a Ferrari only to have someone whisper in your ear that you don't have what you think is a Ferrari but instead got sold a crummy 1978 Corrolla I guess I have no control over that and you guys are doing something that is better than nothing. Just make sure it is blended through well. The deeper you do this, the deeper the roots will grow. The deeper the roots, the less water it needs. The less problems you get. That will cost you less time and money It also means you love your lawn and not hate it It means your house is cooler and it means one less house contributing to the cities thermal mass of plastic grass pushing summer city temps up collectively. Re: Looking for organic soil supplier West Melbourne 7Oct 06, 2010 8:56 pm No Ferrari's in Melbourne so far Re: Looking for organic soil supplier West Melbourne 8Jan 11, 2011 12:27 pm i am also looking for organic soil in west melbourne (point cook/werribee area). i called BAAG and they sell them in bulk but delivery is $100 (too far where I am).. I live in Geelong and I was hoping someone has found the closest place which sells the organic compost. I have read all about Fu's instructions on preparing the soil. I will be going out next week to find all the products in preparation of the big make over. I can't stand my clay soil anymore. I have already had one mishap (going for a big slide in the mud - felt like I was having a mud bath ).
