This is my first post. How exciting. Have you thought about the expidit shelf unit from ikea. The 2 x 8 square model. We have a similar situation in the home we are about to build and we are going to use this. It is about 40cm deep x 150 high x 80cm wide I think. You can keep a bag in one of the "pigeon" holes, keys, deco items, photos etc and can even get drawres and cupboards to fit in the squares. Also comes in various finishes.
