Suh - thanks. i was thinking blues initially as well, its just a matter of finding the right one! I guess with that rug, you can do both - the pink or blue. The third curtain sample was my second choice, just wasn't sure if I should be bringing in more brown tones and whether the darker colour would make the room appear much smaller. Its not a huge space. Thanks again! Welcome more opinions! There were 2 lots of img tags so I deleted 1 from each end of the code and Bob's your Uncle! Its not a huge space. Thanks again! Welcome more opinions! That was my initial thought too. It's a fairly smallish room and to put a colour in the curtains could possibly box the room in a little. A lighter colour that would receed into the colour of the walls and look like a continuation of the wall might make it appear larger. It's a difficult decision and one that only you can make! I do like the colour choices though, but you need to imagine the whole lot of the windows covered in that colour. Tricky again if you decide to paint the walls in a darker colour in the future without wanting to change the curtains all over again!! Would the curtains be on the sliding door in the meals area as well? I love blue, and I think it makes a great accent colour! I have it as an accent on my fairly neutral palette too. Are you going to add anything else where the couch is? A coffee or a side table? A floor lamp? Is a TV going to go there at some stage? I wouldn't worry at all about the couch not matching with the kitchen. I have off white cupboards (alabaster), a painted white pantry door, a slightly different beige coloured splashback, latte coloured walls and white woodwork with white bar stools and a different coloured beige couch nearby. It looks fine! Once you find your accent colour that will tie it all together nicely! IMHO! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Will have a look at your blog! I guess need to try a range of blues to see which is best. Maybe a duck egg blue could work? Are you going to add anything else where the couch is? A coffee or a side table? A floor lamp? Is a TV going to go there at some stage? The space between the couch and dining suite is a bit small for a coffee table - would be cumbersome to walk around. We also have baby #1 due in a few weeks, so I am holding off filling the room with furniture, as I can see it being taken over by baby paraphanalia! This is now the nicest room in the house during the day, so I think bubs and I will be settling in here. I was thinking a tall lamp in the corner next to the couch, as that is a dark spot, and maybe a basket/storage box in front of the windows to help with quick clean ups. Not considering a tv at this stage, there is no good viewing wall for it, much to DH's despair. Unless we move the dining table, but I don't think thats the best use of the space. Ohh, and the black stick arrangement on the wall near the dining table isn't a permanent fixture. Just trying to fill gaps with what we have! Re: Finishing touches on this room - accent colour? 6Jun 09, 2010 6:12 pm Hi Stormy, just had a peek at your blog - your home is beautiful! I can see we have quite similar tastes, right down to the french provincial clock! Congratulations on your home Re: Finishing touches on this room - accent colour? 7Jun 09, 2010 9:24 pm I quite like the soft greens in the carpet with the creaminess, would look nice in the curtains. Its easy to keep playing safe with the neutrals, and I have done it in my last house, now I long for colour. Here in Tauranga we have a guy who comes out with the curtain samples in the van. you decide and then they come back and its all up in a couple of hours. A soft sage and cream leaf pattern??? Re: Finishing touches on this room - accent colour? 8Jun 10, 2010 5:23 pm I’m with Stormy, I’d use a blue as an accent colour, a nice deep blue. Rug could go either under the dining table or slightly under the lounge and out onto the floor space, if it were me, I’d get 2 the same and use as I said. Curtains, I’d use the one to the far right, now leaving the blue accent colour very dominate in the room. Artwork, wait till you get all the others in place, then show us the room again.
