Slab prep and piering was done Friday and we imagine slab would have been poured this week but it's forcast to rain all week. It's been so sunny for last few weeks. Shame! Here's hoping it will stop raining and clear up before end of the week. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12144Aug 24, 2015 9:06 am [quote="Davidr13"]It has been two weeks since we last saw the house. Very pleased with the progress today. Brick work completed, roof and gutters done. Whirlybird and range hood roof vent installed. Electrical meter installed, and board. Looks like all the plumbing has been run as well. Next week the electrical will be done, as well as insulation. Meet with the site supervisor on Tuesday 1/9. So far, the build is ahead of schedule, and could be done for Christmas. Here are some of the pictures ... Looks great David. They are really flying through your build at the moment. Would be awesome to get the keys before Christmas. We are hoping on that too. Will have to wait and see what happens. Won't be long now and you will be at lockup. Fingers crossed for you the rain doesn't hang around for too long so you can get that slab down. Where are you building and what house are you building? Our brickwork has just about been completed so you are not too far behind us. I'm building a Lyndhurst/Bronte mix home in Sydney. Just finished our pre colour selections appointment at Baulkham Hills and was impressed with our dedicated interior designer. I've built before and I've never had a interior designer so I'm looking forward to selections! I'm going to start looking for quotes for tiling and carpets in order to compare them to MJH before our TPP appointment in a few weeks. Could someone please explain to me what occurs in the TPP? Also is anyone going with MDJ with their flooring? If so if you don't mind, how much are you paying per sqm? I'm interested in polished porcelain or porcelain tiles 600x600 for all areas except bedrooms which will be carpet. If I recall correctly their top tier lush carpet was $70 p/sqm. I wonder if it's worth getting MDJ to do my flooring to avoid the hassle of post build jobs. Is the price difference substantial from MDJ to other suppliers like Carpet court for example? Looking forward to the build! Hi. I am interested to hear how your build goes. We are considering building the Lyndhurst in Sydney in next few months. We did all of our flooring through MJ. $17000 with bamboo and upgraded carpet. The house is the Havana executive. Hope that helps! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12150Aug 24, 2015 8:37 pm hooms Hi Guys, I've just started the journey with MJH. I chose the Vienna with a few small changes. It is very exciting and hard at the same time as there are a lot of research and decisions involved. The price is a bit higher than what other builders are offering but I'm not sure if I get the same quality with them. Hi hooms, Just wondering if you could share some details of your plans... What changes did you make to the Vienna and what have your costing so come in at etc... We were originally planning on the Miami but we are now leaning towards the Vienna also Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12151Aug 25, 2015 8:33 am DJCJDC hooms Hi Guys, I've just started the journey with MJH. We were originally planning on the Miami but we are now leaning towards the Vienna also Hi DJCJDC, we changed a few items in the kitchen, hallway and toilet. We closed the hallway and removed the desk and walls next to the kitchen and moved the fridge to that location. Extended the WIP as there was no more fridge over there and added a sink to it and also extended the toilet to use the furniture recess to add a vanity to it. I've added a capture of the change to the plan, hopefully it helps. Can't believe how much has happened in the last three weeks. Did a drive by today and first coat of paint has been completed and vanities have installed . We chose winter ice . Was worried it wasn't going to be white enough but looks ok ? It sort of looks like an off white I think. Home theatre is meant to be candle wood. But it's been painted same as rest of the house. Mentioned it to the painter but he knew ur was wrong so all good. House looking really good I can't believe we are really getting close now. McDonald Jones were using it on a lot of their display homes we went through in Newcastle and it looks really nice. Would love to see some more photos of the kitchen if you have some. You mentioned you thought the bar back looked a different colour to your overhead cupboards. Was it just because it had a protective coating on it or did they make a mistake? We are first home builder so any advice and pointer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hi I'm building Havana exec too, the joinery is available through MJH, they can quote you at the colour appointment, you may wish to give someone else a pic and the dimensions to compare prices so you can decide to have it done after hand over. We are also having an electrician install downlights, at our electrical appointment we planned where the standard batten light would go to eliminate extra holes in the roof but I was told downlights can't go where it will hit the steel frame so we may need to move them anyway, hopefully it doesn't happen too much. I've posted before a list of many blogs. I researched so much before all my appointments so I had an idea what questions to ask and went to all the display homes I could get to and took heaps of pics so I could decide what I liked and what I didn't. Keeping up to date with this thread was so helpful and the fb page too. Anything you see in a display home they can give you a quote for. And they give you a big book, I nick named it the book of arguments, with most of the prices for the extras you will be interested in. And there are brochures on the doors, bricks, colorbond, caeserstone ect but the colours sometimes so different in real life, I found it useful to visit austral bricks to decide what brick to choose. If you go there without your book it's ok they know what is included with MJH. Just remember floors, blinds, driveway, landscaping, fencing is not included. However floors can be done by MJH they have a wide range but can end up costing more. Get some quotes from elsewhere before you make a decision. I did end up having MJH to do all my floors because if they didn't they would leave the skirting boards off and I would have to paint and put them on. All the consultants have been lovely so far and really understanding with our budget. Where abouts are you building? The waterfall bench makes the kitchen beautiful, how much roughly is it more than the normal bench. I'm building at Bradley Heights close to Glenmore Park in NSW. Where about are you? Thanks Hi , not sure if this helps but we are building the garden retreat which has the home theatre cabinets and a full wall cabinet in the garden room in the display home . We got the full wall cabinet quoted at colours (jan 2015) and was about 2k . This was a full wall though so not too bad ? Sorry we didn't get the home theatre quoted .
