Re: Aubin Gardens -Stage 9 & 10 - Come and meet your neighbo 609Jun 01, 2011 1:09 am Hi All, Wow - there has been a bit of action here in the last month. I've been logging on my phone, but it obviously didn't update!! I thought you all were MIA! lol. Wrexter - I think I've seen that guy too - a little while ago though. We thought he was a tradie working close by. Hmmmm.... Neighbourhood watch is a go. Uncle Tonsky - We got someone to do our soakwells, and extend our paving - both the driveway and the alfresco. The guys were the BEST tradies we've dealt with in the whole process. And did a great job. And were better than the builder's job. We got 10x 900x600 PVC (I think?) soakwells (1 for each gutter), and they did both jobs in 2 days. We went with http://www.pavedrain.com.au/ but I think the tradies on the job were contracted out by him....we have their card somewhere too.... Luke81 - What's this rain sensor? We should be getting our landscaping done on Thursday this week. Our landscaping includes grass (Sir Walter), a garden bed, and retic.... plus we paid an extra $160 for the grass. No plants are included in this either. We'll have to do the plants ourselves later on. I'm going to have to check with him about the extra price we've paid, as we had since extended our driveway, so there is a few square meters less of grassing for them. Somehow doubt they'll refund us the difference. Our update: We both had time off before and after the easter break, so we painted walls, skirted, installed more cabinets in the laundry, cleaned, cleaned and more cleaning etc etc over that period. Soooo glad we got that all out of the way. Every time we came to the house, we brought car loads of stuff with us. Carpets were put in, and then we finally did the big move on 7th May, and our first night in the new house on the 8th May Woo hoo!! And in-between, as AG mentioned, got all the other necessities (bar the Foxtel for now) connected. Internet and phone took about 3 weeks (not 3-5 days as advised). We don't have many boxes left to unpack, but have a garage full of stuff that needs a home Probably wouldn't change much at all - other than allowing more money to finish off the outside - more paving and landscaping. We think we'll live with a sandpit for a back yard for a while yet. This is our first house, but I think we've done exceptionally well. The only thing indoors that we haven't done, are some curtains, and the splashback, but stuff we can live without. A week after moving in, I did it - I locked myself out! Luckily our neighbour across the road let me use her phone to call the hubby at work, who promptly came home to rescue me . Three good things about that.... (1) Got that drama out of the way, and will NEVER do it again, (2) Nice to know that we can call on our friendly neighbours for help already, (3) Extra bonus that hubby's work is now only 15 minutes away, instead of 50 minutes away. And yes, I agree with whoever said it earlier - Aubin Grove is a great suburb, and we do have some great neighbours here in Stage 9/10. If ur driving/walking past 13 Bellingrath, come say hi!! Re: Aubin Gardens -Stage 9 & 10 - Come and meet your neighbo 611Jun 01, 2011 2:08 pm Hi Telotubby Definitely let them know you have more paving as this will reduce the price. Also make sure you had a length of PVC pipe go under your drive for your retic as well. We are considered a corner lot. So I think we got $3,500 worth of landscaping. For that we got all the verge in Sir Walter lawn and about 1 metre in from the verge. All our retic and some soil conditioner. We also got 1 magnolia tree and 8 plants along our retaining wall. We do not appear to have a rain sensor at all. The pipe and wire we found out the back was so they could hook up the back retic to it. Did anyone get a rain sensor is that an optional extra? Or is mine just missing? Need to give them a ring. Been flat out lately. Welcome to the neighbourhood Telotubby. Aparantly it was a requirement by Cockburn council in the past, but not anymore, and so we won't be getting one. Our retic is in, and lawn is going down tomorrow. They are refunding us the difference of the lawn Thanks for the info JessandMark, will call on u if we go down that avenue. Building a custom plan with Aveling Homes. Slab down Aug 2010. Re: Aubin Gardens -Stage 9 & 10 - Come and meet your neighbo 615Jun 03, 2011 11:39 am What ever you do... don't go through Louie's Flyscreen Allsafe http://www.louiesflyscreensallsafe.com.au/security-doors.shtml... we've just finished building and were arranging some quotes for security doors (double door front, double slider at the back and a laundry slider) and had organised for these clowns to turn up and provide a quote. We get a call 40minutes prior to the organised time and were promptly told "Sorry but I'm not coming, Aubin Grove is too far to go to, maybe you should find some place closer...." We called the office and were basically just brushed off. The worst part - we have used these guys on three of our previous houses and had recommended them (and been used by) both sets of parents and a few friends... Terrible, terrible service. Just stay well clear, looks like we'll be spending ou $5000 elsewhere. Aubin Gardens -Stage 9 & 10 - Come and meet your neighbours! 616Jun 06, 2011 6:00 pm Wow that's poor service!
