Re: The Little House - Awful Grout 251Sep 15, 2010 9:12 am Thanks for your support and suggestions guys. Lee75 $4000???!!!! yep i understand why you want it to look perfect!! Yes...well unfortunately it doesn't look perfect. It's not just the grout... It's the layout - same width tiles - expected them to line up the joints. My advice to those who have not yet got to this point in their builds is to request a meeting with your tiler to agree on the layout of tiles - it can make a huge difference. Re: The Little House - Tile Disappointment 252Sep 15, 2010 9:37 am I can understand why you'd be disappointed. That's just not good enough. I hope you can come to some kind of resolution with the builder. contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: The Little House - Tile Disappointment 253Sep 15, 2010 11:38 am that would truly be devastating.....I would be severly emailing, ringing, leaving messages until you get a response,,the colour IS off,,,,the tiles are terrible,,,,,I am so sorry that something that should have been such aa thrill to see is so dissapointing for you,,,,,I hope you get a decent and quick response from your builder today! I would be complaining. BTW, about the floor and wall tiles not being lined up. I wanted ours lined up as the floor and wall tiles, even though different, were the same width. But our tiler said that it could be off by just a 1mm or something and therefore as it goes along it will be off by bigger and bigger amounts. So he said it was best just to have them not lining up. I think ours look fine. Renovating our 1970s home Re: The Little House - Tile Disappointment 257Sep 15, 2010 1:43 pm Hi Steg, Quickly while im at work, google grout paint or something along those lines, ill look for the link a bit later on but i think ill have to use something like this also. I paid extra to use the darkest grout they have on my floor tiles thinking it would match them exactly well i was wrong and now they all patchy between grey, white cream and constantly look dirty im not impressed at all and will bring it up at my 3 month inspection and see what they say, if they dont fix them ill get this grout paint stuff. When i did my inspection i did point it out to my SS and he just said it was because they were dusty and once mopped they would be fine, well ive more probably 5 times and they still look the same. And dont even get me started on the grout in my living area tiles. Im sorry to hear things havent turned out the way you had planned, hopefully your builder comes to the party and fixes it all up for you. V Re: The Little House - Tile Disappointment 258Sep 15, 2010 1:45 pm Oh no That is definitely poor workmanship Re: The Little House - Tile Disappointment 259Sep 15, 2010 2:33 pm I agree with all above Steg; those tile cuts are quite frankly not acceptable (I'd use stronger words if the forum would let me ) Send an email to your builder and demand that they fix them. A couple of those tiles look as though they have been broken rather than cut. As for the grout; it's a little hard to notice from your pics but if you're not happy with it then maybe pursue the painting option as others have suggested. Good luck with it all Re: The Little House - Tile Disappointment 260Sep 15, 2010 8:00 pm I totally agree, I'm sorry, but it really is bad. Hope they fix it soon for you! 8 6154 You’re on the right track, wire brush in a grinder then a zinc rich epoxy primer then a top coat of some sort, like a waterproofing membrane.
