I've read the heat is a problem and it needs to be 30cm off the fence. Can anyone confirm? thanks I wouldn't put the plants against steel - it'd get way too hot in summer and fry the poor plants. Definitely set up your espalier wires on posts or a free standing screen in front of the fence.
