Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: My exposed backyard by my neighbor. What can I do next? 47Dec 04, 2009 5:43 pm I have four neighbours, three of them all look into my back yard (all three are two stories set on a hill higher than my house. Doesn't stop me from going out the back in my boxers or hanging the underwear on the line. If they don't like the sight of it - they shouldn't look Re: My exposed backyard by my neighbor. What can I do next? 48Dec 04, 2009 7:25 pm Privacy is always going to be an issue in new subdivisions isn't it. No established trees, construction, fenced/unfenced lots. I have lived in a new subdivision in a "tri level" house, and am currently living in one part of my mothers newly built duplex, and in the planning stages of building a two story house (on 25 acres though). I agree with the one of the previous posts indicating that if you build in a new subdivision then you should accept that those constructions around you may/may not be to your taste or liking. but the simple fact is that this is Australia, and as long as the constructions comply with the DCP then they should be allowed. Why should a two storey house have to have no window visibility until 1.7m from the floor. The kids in that room would feel like the kids in "Flowers in the Attic". I do agree that for those that want ultra high privacy levels, then new subdivisions probably aren't the best solution. There is way too much inference from Councils and neighbours these days. Dont like it - Curtains, trees, pergolas, shade sails, ........ or real estate agents. Sorry for the rant, but the only thing more frustrating for me is people who get huge mortgages for huge houses, then think they have elevated themselves in the social standings. Back to topic. If it wasn't a condition in the DA, then suck it up. If the developers haven't followed the DA then keep hounding council. Re: My exposed backyard by my neighbor. What can I do next? 49Dec 04, 2009 7:33 pm Just to remind people of what the OP said: - He is not in a new estate - The neighbour's building approval was given subject to conditions - It seems those conditions are not being met - Council is refusing to enforce the breaches Do the hard jobs first. The easy jobs will take care of themselves. - Dale Carnegie Re: My exposed backyard by my neighbor. What can I do next? 50Dec 04, 2009 7:40 pm Sheepdog I think the idea of neighbours reviewing plans is only if the builders apply for a dispensation to general council guidelines. I actually just did a search on this because I was interested for my own reasons and came across this document for Victoria. So far it's proving to be a great read. http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/CA256F310024B628/0/4AE161846D34F6E1CA25712C000C5BF7/$File/1461+Underst+Res+Devenew.pdf Scroll down to the 'overlooking' section. Thanks for posting this info. I have been getting a tad worried as there is a 2 storey house being built next door to us. OUr backyard will face the side of their house. If our house is 6.2m from the boundary and theirs is less than 2.8m (has to be 9m less between the buildings) then they will have to have a restricted view. Phew! Thanks for sharing. By the way SuH, I love your little proverb that is on your posts......let's hope some others read it and take note. I love this website and it has helped me greatly in planning my little home (7.5sqs) which I will be quite proud to own. Regards, Carolyn Tasmania Carolyn Re: My exposed backyard by my neighbor. My advice to those few, if you can’t assist the person, then shut the hell up. This particular OP wasn’t asking whether you agree with them, they were asking for some positive assistance and information. Hope I’m not overstepping the boundaries here but I’m very menopausal today Re: My exposed backyard by my neighbor. What can I do next? 57Dec 07, 2009 1:05 pm I actually had to read the title of this thread again to remember what it was about originally. Shall we step back and see if anyone can be helpful and/or constructive in a polite manner in regards to pengruijun's situation? If it goes off track like that again, the thread will probably be removed which results in no help for pengruijun at all. That's not what we are about is it? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: My exposed backyard by my neighbor. I totally agree with you - we all have our stressed-out moments and, whether someone else think it's a big deal or a trivial issue, it's not helpful to receive "get over it" type advice from them. i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16001 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20178 Did you know that you can get rugs made from carpet?
