Browse Forums Building A New House Re: The CARLISLE HOMES General Information Thread 545Dec 09, 2009 9:56 pm I know what you mean. Remember 3 points to consider. Do you need the extras? Can you pay for them? What will it cost you to add it to your mortgage V paying for it later. I still have curtains in one of my windows, as I cannot afford to get shutters I wanted put in. I moved in 3 years ago. OMG Adrian B Re: The CARLISLE HOMES General Information Thread 546Dec 09, 2009 10:39 pm Jayneylou In my little world of Carlisle... I have tender presentation tomorrow. Haha Amen I can second that one, we took some big items that we thought would be a lot but never turned out to be. One item I thought wouldn't cost much cost way way way to much and that was upgrading the cornice to Tempo styling. In fact, we we're so happy with our tender we added airconditioning to it. We have a little issue in our estate of people trying to break in after people have moved in Re: The CARLISLE HOMES General Information Thread 552Dec 10, 2009 8:22 am Moogle, I'm so sorry you are going through this. From the looks of the damage in the photos, its all superficial...so hopefully they fix it quickly and you wont be able to tell it ever happened. I find cheese and some wine helps a lot too! (not a big chocolate eater) Moogle those photo's are very Good to hear that Carlisle are onto it! They seem to be quite responsive which is fantastic 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' (Well, I have told hubby that I have colour selection, he is the chauffer ha ha ha) He didn't laugh at that. One question for the Carlislers, we're not too thrilled with Tecknika so will be upgrading our appliances and getting the Smeg. How have you guys found their Smegs? (nobody ever gives good reviews online, so all i can get - especially about the dishwasher - is bad reviews! - and as a result, we're seriously considering the F&P dishdrawer... is the smeg dishwasher as cruddy as people on the net will lead you to believe??) You know the biggest frustration I am feeling at the moment (and I'm sure it's all the builders, not just Carlisle) is the stupid energy rating. I can't stand halogen downlights. And they won't do the other downlights (the spots) in the house because they are not "energy efficient" - apparently there is too much ventilation space in them. So for us, it's either batten lights or halogens. Anyone else frustrated by the energy factor?? Oh, and another thing, is it really worth double-glazing the windows (particularly the tiny little long ones they do) when they are so small anyway and have double-blinds on them?? (This is for my father in law - he won't shut up - but it's really not in our budget!) What do you think, guys?? Re: The CARLISLE HOMES General Information Thread 555Dec 10, 2009 12:36 pm carlisle's double glazing can only be applied to awning windows, as A&L, who is carlisle's supplier does not do double glazing on any other windows, happy? And we can all be very sure, A&L has the absolute freedom to supply their products to anyone they choose... Re: The CARLISLE HOMES General Information Thread 556Dec 10, 2009 12:59 pm mattwalker awww that still sux! chocolate is so good for things like this Have they made any progress for you this week? Hi Matt, Well I'm meeting with the building manager tomorrow at 9am. My dad went by after work yesterday and they were doing the plaster. Still glasses everywhere though. We'll see how everything goes I hope this thread get back on track as well so we can still share information about Carlisle Homes, instead of the other issues.... Re: The CARLISLE HOMES General Information Thread 558Dec 10, 2009 1:51 pm Hi Everyone! I have moved into a rental now and have wireless broadband as we have no ports in our area. Anyway I have been reading through all these posts and watching the drama unfold with a smirk on my face mmmm interesting.... Anyway it's time to get this forum back on track So here goes. Our land title is released in March '10 and the expected build time is 7 months I think. We have squished the majority of our furniture into a smallish rental and it's a tight squeeze! We had our colour selection on Monday and have our tender just prior to Christmas. Our changes and upgrades are huge and I'm very worried. I will be adding the in the "subject to finance" line as we are over budget Now as for colours I have gone with the laminate flooring instead of tiles. I wasn't that keen on the tile selection although I LOVED the tiles in the Atlantique at Cranbourne. When I asked for a price they said $40k The laminate upgrade is only $500. We had timber floor previously so I hope I like it! I have gone with a cloudy white splashback as I tend to get sick of things easily. This way I plan to change the decor and add colour that way. It also opens up the kitchen. I am going to use two glass chopping boards and stand them on end behind the cooktop to catch all the splashes of oil etc. Then I can just pop them into the dishwasher. I did this when I had tiles and it kept my white grout looking spotless. I have added lots of power points, ducted vacuum, colorbond roof and refridgerated aircon. Oh and the theatre room pack with speakers. We also changed the wall in the master and have extended it to the adjacent wall and made it flat. I'm hoping we will get a credit for this. Fingers crossed. Off to get the kids from school. Will finish my post later Building Atlantique 36 At fix stage Re: The CARLISLE HOMES General Information Thread 559Dec 10, 2009 2:28 pm *MrsG* We have our tender on Jan 5, and we have colour selection next week. Now I am not sure if our tender manager was just lazy and just told us $2K so that we would not go for it since she already knew that we working on a budget. As for your other upgrades, it seems like you got the lot. I also went crazy with the powerpoints (I think I added 5 quad power points and maybe 10 double power points). Good luck with the tender.
