Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Big M in Marriott Waters - Turf Laid!!! 161Jan 14, 2011 9:48 am Paint touch ups of scuff marks on walls completed whilst waiting for turf to arrive, also made a start on cleaning the acid marks off the spouting which was left over from the brick cleaning. As soon as the turf arrived the heaven opened. Murphy's Law strikes again My neighbour across the road had a landscape gardener doing some work, and he was telling me that this is the best time to lay the turf in the rain as evrything is wet and you wouldn't need to water with the only down fall being the muddy mess you make. After laying around 80sq meters of turf my driveway, garage and pathway was covered with mud. It was so thick that not even the rain was washing it away. It took almost an hour just to clean up the mud. Backyard starting to take shape with the turf being laid just need to do garden beds and backyard finished. Time to shop for trees and plants. Yucca trees are nice and durable, but there just an over kill as nearly every home has them. Looking for something diffrent any ideas? All extras are now complete!!!! Just a few exotic trees and rocks for the front garden and garden beds and we are done, well I think What a journey in life to build your first home, looking back at it all; loved every moment of it, the highs and lows, I just look at the finished product and smile. My family and friends ask me would I build again? I reply, hopefully not as 33sq should be big enough to raise a family. If I had to I would. It took months to find and a lot of searching around to find these charcoal rocks. Went all over Melbourne and searched to internet and finally found them at Supersoil in Ferntree Gully. Trees & Plants are from Garden World in Keysbourgh and Diaco's in Hampton Park. Laid down concreters plastic so no weeding, hopefully never. All plants and trees are drought tolerant so not much gardening or watering. Also laid down some granite pavers to make a pathway across the front garden and installed some red gum posts for a bit of a feature and to also extended the fence line. Garden and External lights still to be completed Checkout blog for pictures Builder; Big M Design; Soho 32 Facade; Ascent Blog; http://mickeyb-soho.blogspot.com Trend; viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23990 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair We purchased a 1960s property that is on timber stumps mostly, and a newer section is on concrete stumps.
