We have quotes to build a triple American Barn style garage...we are hoping to build it right in the back lefthand corner...this is outside the building parameter..but next door neighboor has built his garage/shed outside so we hope this is a good sign... Fingers crossed Loretta you will not be far behind......i'm pretty happy with how our plans turned out... it was a series of compromises..what we really wanted, what we needed, what we could fit into our budget... Brigette Re: Building in Southern Highlands - plans added 17/09 23Sep 17, 2009 11:39 pm Sounds like you might be winning the race now Brigette! The barn style garage sounds great....so rural. That's one lovely view & a great image of spring. Btw our pre school won an award at the Menai district business awards - winner of the education facility section. Good luck for a slab tomorrow. Timeline of Events so far 17/09 - fencing/port-a-loo/site scrapped 21/09 - footings & piers 24/09 - formwork begins 28/09 - plumber on site 01/10 - slab poured Loretta - Congratulations on your centres "Business Award", add that to your CV very impressive....what room/age chn do you work with??? I always loved the under 2's, but as Director/Authorised Supervisor would often be in with the older children.. http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv192/nowitstime/02102009056.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv192/nowitstime/02102009057.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv192/nowitstime/02102009058.jpg Brigette Re: Building in Southern Highlands - Slab Poured/photos 01/10 36Oct 03, 2009 10:37 am CONGRATS ON THE SLAB. WOW that's amazing progress & you just made it before the rain...good timing. Yes we were all happy with the award...the night was held at Club Menai & we got to dress up & enjoyed a 3 course meal/wine. I work mainly with the 4-5 years but yes my favourite is also the under 2's...I worked in a nursery for a few years & loved it.Unfortunatly this centre doesn't have that age group,we start at 2 years. We are going out to our block today so I will let you know our progress later. Isn't it silly how we get enjoyment from going to see our blocks...piles of dirt/fencing/...we even go past at night when its pitch black just to see how dark it is...because there is no street lights near our block...its very eery..enjoy your block visit!!! Cheers Brigette Re: Building in Southern Highlands - Slab Poured/photos 01/10 38Oct 04, 2009 3:47 pm Hi Brigette. . . Wow! You can see cows from your block! Phil would love that. . . he'd also loveenough space to keep a couple of horses. . . Hey, I've never considered drinking wine out of a cup before! I suppose if you're having white, it'll probably keep it cooler for longer. . . hmmm, maybe I should start drinking my sauv blanc from a thermal mug! You've got quite a drop edge beam on the side of your house there. . . almost rivals ours! Did you envisage the slab levels as they have turned out? I think it's funny how you think everything will look when it's built, as opposed to how it actually looks! I wanted to put patio doors out from our master bedroom as I thought it would be at ground level. . . at the moment the bedroom floor level is about 1.5 metres off the ground! Glad we went for the window instead! Actually, when we bought our land we didn't think it had too much of a slope. . . STUPID!!!! hahaha I get what you mean about going to see the block at night. . . you just have to take every opportunity you can to go see it, and if you work all week it's not often you get to see it in the sunlight. . . yay, it's Daylight Saving! More building site viewing time! Hurrah! Hey Loretta! Congratulations on your business award win. . . you must be stoked. Closest I've ever come to winning and award is winning a meat tray! Re: Building in Southern Highlands - Slab Poured/photos 01/10 40Oct 05, 2009 8:04 pm Thanks Guys,...i'm quite surprised how excited our household is at every little development... I had no idea we'd have a drop edge beam that high i struggle with how things are going to look especially as we were going off plans and no house to walk thru and compare...i am a very visual person and have my fingers crossed that everything will work out..i also thought our block was quite flat. We ended up changing our plans at the last minute, because i'd found a house on the market for sale that was our design and i went for a wander thru...although internal layout was different the basics were the same..it gave me an idea on room sizes etc..and from this realised that our kids rumpus room was too small, so we made bed 2 smaller and rumpus bigger. I just love having rural views and never in my wildest dreams did i imagine we would sell our previous home and move out of sydney with our family...so far this change has been for the better. Enjoy the wet and wild long weekend everyone...Brigette |
