FINALLY, we have our KEYS!!!!!
Handover didn't happen on Thursday as scheduled cos' the bank still hadn't done their final appraisal of the house - the valuation guy did it on Friday morning 11am AND since it took forever for the money to be released for our final payment, we couldn't do handover yesterday. Our site supervisor was kind enough to do it this morning It was surreal to be handed over our keys to the house! We were given a bottle of vino and a couple of wine glasses (and some choccies thrown in) plus a DFH key chain (I promptly took stake of it - why they only gave us one and not two is beyond me!).
I spent a couple of hours putting up my red1shades and there's still SO much cleaning to do plus the painter still needs to come back to finish off the touch ups in some areas of the house. The tiler was back this morning to do my additional wall tiles. I had to drastically reduce the scope of work for the ensuite and can't have tiles on the wall where my toilet is located cos' the amount of work involved in pulling the toilet from the wall and connections didn't make sense. So I've had to wave goodbye to that area being tiled Otherwise, the tiler's done a brill job so far (sorry no pics yet). Tomorrow he'll be back to do the grouting.
Otherwise, I'm glad we finally made it to handover in one piece (tho' at this point, i have to say that banks aren't my fave seeing that it only took us 6 hours to get the bleeding cheque and at 4.50pm yesterday, my hubby ended up coming down to the bank and telling the bank that we weren't going to leave the bank until we had the cheque!).
