Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Aug 24, 2009 5:27 pm I am getting an electrician to install sensors and outdoor lights for security and also for convenience (hate looking for keys in the dark outside the house). Having read a few articles it seems that high glare flood lights are bad for security. It deters passer bys/neighbours from look at your house and can protect thieves/intruders while giving them plenty of light to do their work (please correct me if I am wrong). Also it'll annoy neighbours! I have therefore decided to go for a four low glare flood lights to illumniate my front yard and my deck in the back. I found the Glareblaster but that is not sold in Australia. I found Eye Lighting (http://www.eyelighting.com.au/31-Kestre ... egory.html) but they seem to be for commercial uses. Can anyone recommend any low glare flood lights (Lower North Shore, Sydney, Australia) Thanks! Cannot use Metal Halide as I believe it is not suitable for sensor lights. Fluorescents are only suitable if you extend the on time during the sensor period so it gives them sufficient time to reach max before it turns off. Re: Low Glare Outdoor Floodlight 4Aug 30, 2009 10:37 pm You will find that metal halide are not suitable for domestic purposes, as switching them on and off frequently, will surely shorten the life of the equipment. Halogen or fluorescent should nbe the way to go.
