All is going well with our new Masterton, well, it is 7 months old now. We have done heaps of landscaping, added a pool, building retaining walls, etc. It is great to see the amount of people here. Don't get discouraged by the time delays, once you get those keys and you open your new front door all the stress just goes away and you can walk into your new home. Feel free to ask us any questions and we will do our best to answer them. Take care, and happy building! My roof is leaking water and I have a broken wine rack. Do they normally install the device that close the door for you after you leave or entry the house or you need to do it yourself? Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1015Mar 31, 2010 11:34 am A quick question, the demolition is complete and passed final inspection. Can I get the protective fencing removed ? Pegout is anytime now... Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1016Mar 31, 2010 2:46 pm Vincy - yes i don't see any reason why not. i had kept it only because i had the garage and carport plus did not want anyone to dump anything . people get ideas when they see any empty block Masterton Crystal MK1 Split Level Blacktown CC Paid $2.5k end Sept; Frame 14 Apr; viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32025&hilit=ekman Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1017Mar 31, 2010 4:34 pm Thanks Ekman, Another question, I have email M the letter of commencement from the bank. Now M wants a copy of the loan offer..is that normal ? Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1018Mar 31, 2010 9:39 pm HI Everyone, we've been MIA waiting for our estimate which we got today and well... I'm just depressed! we haven't seen anything on paper yet we have a meeting with our Masterton contact next thursday. but our phone conversation went like this, " how much is this how much is that and the things we can do after handover take them out" I'm quite prepared to get rid of the balcony off the lounge to bring down the cost. Louvered windows are out so are the floorboards as we can do those after handover we can live with cheap carpet and put the floorboards in ourselves Apparently our site costs are exorbitant with piering out the back - what is piering? i can't see why we need it there are all these provisional costs for bushfire zoning and fill and soil removal. I'm just feeling SO deflated it's come in over $150K than what we anticipated and we anticipated $150k over the base price! what a crock! Thats without demolition landscaping and the pool! Sunny & Warm - i can understand the frustration. We experienced the same when M's cost went way over. Piers are always done these days - does not matter where they are building. Older builder will put in brick stepped footings but piering is the way to go these days. The cost depends on how many piers are required and what depth they should into the ground - to sit on a favorable soil or better would be a rock base. The thing is we are on rock! the whole street is! did anyone get an independent geotech report? I know GJ gardner homes do this as part of the initial survey. Thanks for your encouragement.
