This thread has really grown. Bexi, so sorry to hear about your issue with private building inspection. I thought the whole idea of having one done is to help pick up problem areas and fix them before it is too late. If anyone else had private building inspection done, did that make any difference to the building work? anything got retified? ________________ Masterton Santorini Executive Facade Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 983Mar 17, 2010 9:37 pm Bexi Our building supervisor also told me this morning that we'll be at practical completion in 6 weeks! You must be stoked! Congrats Ekman on the earthworks - things are definitely moving forward! JaHouse - where is your house up to? any piccies? Morgraine - glad to hear you got your interim OC! you promised some pics... Congrats R&J - expecting to see some exciting slab photos soon S&W - any updates? Our update - Tilers are on site Also a word of advice for anyone getting their tiles through DIL - make sure you raise this at tile selection - but it is "standard" to have white PVC edging on edges of bath and niches - not a very nice look if you're using dark tiles (which we are on the bath hob) - we were very lucky to be able to change it to chrome/brushed aluminium after a chance remark from the tiler to DH otherwise I would've been very unhappy to have white edges on my charcoal bath hob!! They didn't charge us any extra - don't know if that means that the chrome/brushed aluminium is also standard or not (I understand that it is at Don's Tiles). We are trying to make it look like the Santorini brochure so we can sell the image back to Masterton as they only have a drawing of these colour schemes. Only joking.. Yep they rendered it real early and let their idiot scaffolders have their way with the render . We have progressed a fair bit from those pictures. In fact we got a PCI next thursday. How is your progress? Lizzy - Sorry to hear about your delays, the good thing is there hasn't been alot of rain lately. You don't want your woods to be out in the weather too long. Make sure you ask for chrome edging, it looks a million times better and ask MrsRoses has said, if your got dark tiles, the white rounded edge won't look too good compare to the chrome. As MrsR said we have the white. Yes it is plastic but it doesn't look cheap up against the white tiles. If we were to have a dark tile then we definitely would be choosing the chrome finish edging. I mentioned in my thread that DiL didn't even mention the edging during our selections. Lucky we didn't have a dark tile as I wouldn't have even thought of it!! Frame work started last Monday and as per our construction coordinator it'll be finished next week then plumbing and gas works kicks in. I'll promise to post some photos thru our blog later on since my notebook IE couldn't open the home1 forum and I'm just using the phone at the moment. Bexi - great to hear you'll be in practical completion in 6 weeks. How did masterton ignore your private inspection request, if you don't mind me asking? Reason for that is I've already arranged one with our building inspector and they said our ss ask them to call him back by mid April. Cheers! Anyone got any pics of what the chrome looks like?? I definitely am interested in getting them to use chrome if i can see that it looks good. Is it easy for them to just use the chrome or will they make it dificult if i ask for it? Dram - My advice would be... don't wait for a phone call for masterton to tell you that it's ready for your building inspection because they may just not ring you at all (as in my situation). Go to your house everyday and when it looks like it's ready for your own building inspection or better still, a day off. Ring masterton yourself and ask if you can get your inspection done the next day. Who is your building supervisor? I would raise it with your SS and maybe call DIL to see if you can get something added to your file. It is better than their artist impressions. Here are some pictures of our Santorini wet areas with the chrome edging. Our bathrooms will hopefully look as good as your ensuite (I think we've chosen a similar colour - ours is charcoal with a hint of brown)! Love the dark blue though! its nice to see something different and the feature tile is gorgeous! One question though, what tapware and accessories did you upgrade to? Did you also need to upgrade your bath spout or did they do that automatically? We have the same bath spout and it is standard. It is quite large and long. Our bathtub is right in the wall so it covers nearly half the bath tub. We are going to change it as it is unsafe and I worry about our youngest when he has a bath. We will get one that swivels. Hope it all goes smooth sailing with the bub. Can't wait to hear the news. R and R Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1000Mar 21, 2010 9:54 pm Thanks MrsRose and R & R- We upgraded all to Mixer taps and the spout is what comes with it as a result. My description of it would be "long and large and un elegant". I have seen much nicer ones in Harvey Norman and may unscrew it and upgrade to the nicer ones . As R and R said it comes across nearly half way across the bathtub. You gotta slide yourself in . The blue isn't really dark blue, it is just the lighting, here is what it really looks like up close. I got scuffs on these tiles. I don't know why, Could be careless tilers or shower installers, I hope they can fix this. It is abit of a downer considering, overall I am quite happy with how the colours turned out.
