Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 13, 2009 1:51 pm Hi, guys, I managed to get inside the house today as the plumber was there. I am concerned that the spa is mounted so high from the slab. The plumber stated that they always do it quite high as it prevents termites coming up through the floor. We have a vibrated, concrete raft foundation. I didn't know that termites could eat or make their way through solid concrete. Sounds like absolute rubbish to me. Also the plumber was re-bedding the spa today, as he said the cornice flusher was standing in it and it was wobbling, bloody idiots. Here's a pic of the unnecessary height. Idiots all round Re: Termites apparently eat concrete 5Aug 13, 2009 2:37 pm I guess their intention is to brick up? Most of the ones I have seen have a sand bed. Reason being if you have a grain of sand between the spa and the cement bed you end up with a 'crunching' sound, aposed to vitually no sound on the sand bed. Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10892 |
