Browse Forums Safer Living 1 Mar 15, 2009 2:10 pm I see there are several posts seeking advice on how much to pay for this, and it seems $600-750 is the going rate.
I just wonder if anyone has actually had it done since posting and can advise if that price is realistic? My house wiring is appalling, and it is constantly cutting out and blowing light bulbs etc. From what I can tell none of the light fittings have earth wires to them, does this mean I will need additional work done? Also, not sure if its allowed but does anyone have a recommendation for a trades person to complete the work? Appreciate any help...thanks Re: New Fuse Board/Safety Switch - Electrician Advice needed 2Mar 19, 2009 3:14 pm Sounds like you may need a re-wire.
If you need a re-wire, you can get a ballpark idea by adding up all the power points and light fittings and then allow $100 per point. so if you have 20 power points and 10 lights then it will be 30x100 or $3000 ballpark. If its just a switchboard upgrade then $700 would be the average price for a single phase house with around 7-8 circuits. Work out if you house is 3 phase or single, how many circuits and then call a company local to you to see if they will give you a price.
