Mernda & Doreen Residen 2251Sep 12, 2010 3:58 pm Ahh, I grew up with snakes. Had my fair share of tigers and browns sitting on the front porch as you walk out the door. Handy to have a shovel close by. With the water about now (more so in the flooded area's) they will be looking for somewhere to shelter. Mum has had a few at her place (country vic) with all of the bush flooded near her house atm. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 2252Sep 12, 2010 10:48 pm mpcj ::surprise:: don't like snakes. I'm a little over the small unsealed section on Cravens road just behind RR. It is such a convenient road for those in WW and RR to get to Bridge in Rd but that length of unsealed road is highly annoying. Ahh join the club but my pet hate is Cookes rd and Bassets lane its so convenient to get to bridge inn rd that way I don't want to be going through laurimar and out onto plenty rd nor do i want to go down to yan yean rd then back! yes I am lazy lol... I have friends in WW and they whinge about it as well. 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! My parents were up at the sales centre today looking at the estate for me, and apparently settlement will be delayed a month due to the weather making it too hard to finish getting the land ready viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37229 - our Iris 4! Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 2254Sep 13, 2010 7:24 am Machiars Ahh, I grew up with snakes. Had my fair share of tigers and browns sitting on the front porch as you walk out the door. Handy to have a shovel close by. Me too. We were surrounded by paddocks where I grew up (and no, it wasn't in the country, just outer suburban Melbourne) and snakes were a regular summer hazard. They don't bother me, I'm just sensible about not traipsing through long grass for the six months or so of the year that they're active. Stick to the paths, and keep your eyes open. I cringe when I see kids in shorts and thongs wandering through the state park in summer. Do their parents not teach them basic common sense? As for the nicer wildlife, the frogs around us have gone completely nuts. The noise level around the creek and wetlands has increased and I'm hearing them in people's gardens again. Some critters like the rain. Haven't seen our porch visitor from a few months back though. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 2255Sep 13, 2010 7:31 am Alex88... on the bright side you have a road at least now. I was up at the house helping Dad build me a deck (if helping means mostly spectating - I'm not allowed near power tools it would seem). A pair of swallows have apparently moved in above my front door and were most upset we had invaded their space. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 2256Sep 13, 2010 11:40 am Jayney - yes, this is true! And we have curbs It's not too much of a delay, since they wouldn't have been able to start building until finance is approved end Oct. anyway, so we'll live viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37229 - our Iris 4! Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 2257Sep 13, 2010 11:43 am Glad there are frogs there. I miss that from when I was growing up. They can make a hell of a noise. On a noise note, how are the cicada's? I think I'm going to enjoy living in MV more and more now Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 2258Sep 15, 2010 3:29 pm It's tax time again, does anyone have a reliable tax agent in the local area? I used to do mine online, but thinking with a house now, it maybe beneficial to go to someone and get a few extra tweaks. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up!
