Hi, it's been brought to my attention that residents (myself included) have a particular company (PM for info) bookmarked for fencing. DON"T USE THEM!! They have done some houses and installed the fences incorrectly. Some people have lost up to 2m of their backyard due to the fencing not being put where the boundary pegs are. They aren't returning phone calls or even taking phone calls and won't come out to inspect or move.
As you know, we've had issues with our fence since day dot, but are heading out today to do a proper measure - we already know our fence potrudes on to our land, but we are going to measure correctly now and see just how off it is. This apparently is not an isolated case unfortunately. We were aware of people inour street with issues but didnt realise it extended to a large part of the estate
I'm one of the parties to the fencing chaos you mention. The fencing contractor that you refer to should rightfully be named and shamed, but of course, this isn't the place to do it. This particular fencing contractor's "mistake" has affected at least 6 properties in one way or another.
My fencing saga continues. Unfortunately, I still don't have fences on 2 sides because the builder on an adjoining property is delaying clearing his landfill from our boundary, so that the fences can be put up on level land. I wonder if you can imagine my frustration at waiting for over 5 months simply to have fences on our property! The kids can't play in the back yard and our garden plans have to be put on hold.
I wasn't going to mention any of this, but now that it's out there......
There should be some kind of regulatory body within the fencing industry. The Fencing Act appears to deal with neighbours having conflict, but the fencing company can get away with performing an unsatisfactory job.
Anyway, I'm happy for people to PM me also, if you want to avoid incompetent fencing contractors;I know another one that I'd refuse to recommend too! Also, one that I probably can recommend.
