Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 402May 13, 2009 2:13 pm Wow Crissy, I am loving what I am seeing. Particularly love the front shot of the house. It does look a bit dark inside with the plaster. What time did you take the photos? I think with a nice paint job the house will look brighter. I am loving your front door Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 404May 13, 2009 2:22 pm Thanks MM !! The front shot will look better too once our garage door is up !! (matches the front door!!!) and once we have our feature! I so looooove the front door too!! As I said in an earlier post, with the granny flat, we lose a lot of light! Plus of course with the plaster being dark it doesnt help. Photos were taken about 4.30pm or so, maybe just after actually for the inside shots. Which is when the sun sets behind the granny flat. I imagine as the sun sets at the front door, we will get good light in the morning, and darker towards the afternoon. Plus once the tiles are in it will look brighter again as we have chosen light tiles too! But I think the dining room area will always be dark as we wont get much light in there, only from the rumpus. Might have to look at getting pendant lights to hang above the dining room table, but will know more once we're in and can see of course !! Thanks Megzy !! I"m pretty happy with it! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 405May 13, 2009 2:25 pm Having another look at the entrance photo - it did not look that dark when we walked through. I guess the camera with flash makes it look heaps darker ! Building in Brisbane SW Suburbs Started on site with plumbing on 30/3 - Lock up 2/5 - 15/6 Recd Fixing Invoice - 18/6 Painter to start ! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 406May 13, 2009 2:27 pm I think you will find that it will be alot lighter in the morning and the middle of the day as we certainly did. Will you be able to check it out on the weekend? Can't wait to see the garage door on, it will look superb Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 407May 13, 2009 2:31 pm We'll pop over on the weekend, maybe early on Sat morning and check it out !! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 410May 14, 2009 7:42 am Renderers did another coat yesterday, and looks like the plasterers have also done their 2nd coat of the painting those dots & lines! Renderer is there again this morning. I'm really not sure what is meant to be happening this week, I think the cornices will need to go up at some stage, but not sure after that. Vanities etc should be going in in about a forntnight, or even next week, so I guess its just finishing off inside before that happens. I think SS said the kitchen has been ordered for 21/5 which is a week from today. Can anyone shed some light on what will/should happen in the next week ?? Thanks! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 411May 14, 2009 8:11 am Hi Crissy, you guys are just behind us so definitely cornices which may take two or three days.(maybe less) That is pretty much all we are up to. After the cornices went in they did a big clean up of the house ready I am assuming for the kitchen and vanities. We have not got a date confirmed for these aand we are hoping they are not too far away. Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 412May 14, 2009 8:36 am How long did it take for your cornices ? We've got the 2 houses so I always leave a bit more time. Maybe they'll do the same for us and do a big clean up ready for the kitchen! Oh, and I guess they need to do waterproofing too to the wet areas too! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 413May 14, 2009 12:25 pm Crissy, I think the cornices took 2 and a bit days so you could allow three, although it really depends on how many are working on them. We have a vehicle at our house today. I think some work on the eaves is getting done but didn't get a close look. Any work is progress Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 414May 14, 2009 11:09 pm Wow Crissy, the house is looking great! I think the exterior colours look great and just love your timber door. Looking forward to seeing more progress and more pics! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 415May 15, 2009 6:47 am I think you will catch us soon Chrissy although we did have the electrician doing some work yesterday. What is happening now? Love the updates Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 416May 15, 2009 7:43 am Thanks Thorney & MM ! It is all coming together now ! The render has dried a bit too which looks nicer! Even though it wont stay that colour, it looks good! Update for yesterdays' work.... The cornices are in !!!! YAY !!! Not sure what is happening today... no-one was there at 6.30am this morning - but I think the cornice guy did start a little later as he wasn't there yesterday morning when hubby drove past. Also looks like the next door neighbours on the lower side, had some trees removed yesterday !! YAY !! some were HUGE and one especially was right near our fence so I'm glad its now gone, because it was diseased. So I guess we need some waterproofing, architraves & skirting (does that get done now ??) and then a clean up, the garage doors on so that we can close it before the kitchen gets delivered next week !! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 419May 15, 2009 9:08 am Hi Chrissy your home is coming along nicely.......i always loved grandview but building Retreat with Plantat*ion Homes. I would say cornice is next and then they put those metal thing s (dont know whats its called along the edges/corners....then the kitchen cabinet . Thats how its been done at our house so far. we also had the internal doors installed and the door frames (architraves??) done /wet areas sealed and also the first coat of paint.........so i guess you should be seeing all this pretty soon which is all very exciting to see your color choices in your own house....looking forward to more progress Re: Crissy's perfect home - 12/5 We've Been Rendered ! 420May 15, 2009 9:30 am Hi Curious! I actually loved the Retreat from Pl@nt@tion, but it wouldn't fit and the guy was not helpful at all and said none of their houses would fit ! Grrrr.... So i wasn't too pleased with them. But I have since been through the Retreat again after choosing the Grandview - and i still love it, but I think I do love the grandview more (Well I would hope so anyways!! ) I really liked the layout of the Retreat, esp the kids retreat. The cornices went in yesterday actually! I'm looking forward to seeing the colours now too now as they have started coming in to play! Where are you building??
