Just waiting for an inspection...overall it has been a stressfree build in a record 4 months and we were never told or promised things that will happen during the week but in saying that almost everyday there were tradies on site except for those rainy days and a big thank you to our SS Re: Building in Qld with Plantation Homes (aka Henley) 166Jun 11, 2009 6:06 pm Curious - you have to post lots of pics of how it all turned out! Stila BK1 Build Thread The best place to talk about sport Re: Building in Qld with Plantation Homes (aka Henley) 173Jun 14, 2009 9:02 am Well we went and gave the Pl@ntation man some $$ yesterday and received my encyclopaedia to read . Two things I have questions about. We will probably have our own person to do the ducted air but got the spiel that they wouldn't be allowed onsite to install during construction??? I thought many of you were doing that. How did you organise it? We are wanting timber floors throughout and know they don't do those. (The sales guy couldn't have been more negative about them and the problems they have had in their display homes). Are any of you doing timber floors and if so who are you going through and roughly how much have you found it to be? Also, we are doing a fully rendered facade and having trouble working out exactly what colour we want. At your colours appt do they talk about different selections/options and are they able to show you computer generated colour combos so you can see what they different things look like? Thanks for your help so far. Building the Pl@ntation Retreat on 4009m2. All moved in!!!!!! We will probably have our own person to do the ducted air but got the spiel that they wouldn't be allowed onsite to install during construction??? I thought many of you were doing that. How did you organise it? Simple - when I went down for the contract signature I already had the quote I wanted from the installer I wanted. I just asked for the form to allow my aircon man onsite and they had one in my hands in two minutes. No problems at all - and my aircon man has done all the WPH&S registration with then for another client so it was no effort at all. seast Also, we are doing a fully rendered facade and having trouble working out exactly what colour we want. At your colours appt do they talk about different selections/options and are they able to show you computer generated colour combos so you can see what they different things look like? no computer generated colour combos but lots of swatches mixed and matched - try this, nope, how about this? nope, trial and error. If colours are a big issue then do go there beforehand and play with the colour schemes beforehand; talk to the Cosham ladies and get some options otherwise you could spend hours and hours at the colours appointment. ’’Quondo Omni Flunkus Mortati ’’ If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. We are going to be building in Carseldine which is in North Brisbane. I had a couple of questions for anyone who can help 1. Many people have said that they got separate quotes for air conditioning from external retailers. I was wondering if the slab which is required for the outdoor unit is included in the quote or do you still get Plantation to put that down for you. I have been quoted 15400 for 18-20kW Daikin unit with 6 zones. I would ideally like 9 Zones as the Oasis is a big house. On my quotation it says that the air conditioner slab is poured integral to house slab. Is this important? 2. Again with water tank installation. I have been quoted 6,990 for a slimline tank and all internal plumbing. Again wondering if going external with this is going to help? Cheers Re: Building in Qld with Plantation Homes (aka Henley) 176Jun 14, 2009 10:34 pm Hi liveonimpulse! Definately get your aircon from someone else. You'll get a MUCH better unit then the Daikin's and also with 8 zones for at least the same price if not better. Just get the water tank through Plantation. You may only save $600 doing it yourself as mine was only $7600 through them so for the extra hassle it's just not worth it. Other things you can do yourself are alot of the electricals (downlights etc), rendering, floorings etc, there's really a big list it just depends on how much DIY you want to do Our Blog! http://cityplantation.blogspot.com | Building the Havana 485 with Plantation Homes (Henley) Re: Building in Qld with Plantation Homes (aka Henley) 177Jun 14, 2009 10:43 pm I'm building the Stila (33.9sq) with Plantation (Verve) - and I've organised AirQld (maroochydore) to install an 17.8kw, 8 zone, single phase system. The local daikan agent sold me on anyone but when he told me I couldn't put the unit where I wanted it because of the noise..... the slab for the unit is not integral to the house either. ’’Quondo Omni Flunkus Mortati ’’ If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. I have already asked a couple of other questions in your blog (yeah i am the anonymous guy ) which i found through google. Funny that you should be the first one to reply here as well. I am so sold on the switches with LED rings, so in hindsight reading your blog was a very expensive idea. If you don't mind uploading it can i have a look at your lighting plan? I think i will get the water tank through them as we are going to have 3 toilets and i guess that would involve a lot of extra plumbing. Can you please share your costs for the entire install i.e slab, install and incidentals etc. I don't know if loading 17.8kW on a single phase is a good idea. Plantation have quoted me 600 for a 3 phase upgrade and this seems justified in my humble opinion. Cheers Hi! we are building the Empire @ Narangba (not too far away <waves hi> and we were quoted $18500 for air con with P so we shopped around and I managed to get a Daikin 20kw Hybrid Inverter, reverse cycle 3 Phase with 9 zones etc etc installed for $14650 from Ascot Air! We got a heap of quotes and these guys did the best quote and service by far - our rough in went in last week and we've had no problems *touch wood*. As for the slab - ours wont be an integral slab (obviously) and we aren't concerned in the slightest. Good luck!
