Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Nov 20, 2008 11:55 am Ok, ok, I know... more questions on costs when I should get a quote. But I'm not going to put myself through the torture of a quote if this is going to be hideously expensive!
There is currently no sink/basin in the vicinity of our toilet. Yes, yuck! We wanted to add in a little vanity, but other than the toilet there's no plumbing directly in the area, but the washing machine is wired up on a wall behind the toilet. Does anyone have an idea of how much adding in a sink will cost if they have to add new plumbing etc? We also wanted to replace the toilet at the same time. Re: Plumbing question - how hideously expensive will this be? 2Nov 20, 2008 12:25 pm Are the walls gyprock or concrete? Concrete would be a fairly major job.
Either way it won't be a 'cheap' do. I imagine they'd need to chase the wall for the hot and cold supply lines, then rip up the floor to the closest drain if you're on a slab. I think that would be a fantastic option... very water saving and would definitely fit into the space (we were originally going to have to move the doors etc) Re: Plumbing question - how hideously expensive will this be? 6Nov 23, 2008 3:23 am Great idea! Thanks mattwalker.
The Caroma shown also saves water used for hand-washing - to be used for the next flush. I saw an ad somewhere - the Caroma suite cost over $500. I don't know if the other one shown also saves water for flushing. Contact plumbing supply or hardware companies listed in the Yellow Pages. Another option would be to fit a small narrow hand-basin on one of the nearby walls. They only come out into the room a few inches.
