It's a big house, for a big family, make sure it can fit a big fridge. go for 100cm, it just gives you so many more options. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: fridge space 6Nov 13, 2008 2:20 pm and make sure you get a tap put in behind if you want a fridge that dispenses ice or water.
we have our eye on a Liebherr fridge - 121cm wide (so we've made the space 125cm) - mind you, it's one of the few really wide side by sides (and quite pricey at over $7k). the other that comes to mind is the french door fridges (but the freezers in those seem a bit impractical) After 4 years - we're in! Re: fridge space 7Nov 13, 2008 2:59 pm hey, jo, was reading your Terrecotta - got no experience in it, so was just reading. thanks for advice, wonder whether Petal got hers changed - got a feeling she must have!
hey, stonecutter, thanks for the info, good on u for over 7k must be a really good one! i will stick to 1000mm wide space - aiming for a 900mm wide fridge - if choose to expand nh Re: fridge space 8Nov 13, 2008 3:14 pm nh hey, stonecutter, thanks for the info, good on u for over 7k must be a really good one! super energy efficient - but I just love the design! I recommend 100cm too, you can always fit a smaller fridge in a large gap, but not a large fridge in a small gap! Re: fridge space 10Nov 13, 2008 7:35 pm One of the things I wish i had changed (if I had thought about it properly! grrr) would have been to move where our fridge is located and also to extend out the fridge space.
I think where your fridge space is, is a good location (cos both doors will be able to be opened freely) but if you can afford it, i would def extend out the fridge space Re: fridge space 11Nov 13, 2008 8:20 pm Our fridge space is 950 and side by side fridge comfortably fits there, there are many side by side fridges that are 800 or 850 wide but that is the smaller ones (still larger than tradtional single front fridge though).
This is big enough for us and our house is not large, 23 squares, and household members will not exceed 3. With a larger house and a larger family you may well need a bigger one. Re: fridge space 16Nov 14, 2008 9:58 am Definately go 100cm, we went with the standard 90 and the fridge only just squeezes in, our cabinets were not exactly built straight and slope in a few mm at the back, one more mm and we wouldn't have been able to get it in, so the bigger the better!! I wish we had!! but didn't occur to us that it wouldn't be a perfect 90cm and we wouldn't have noticed such a small measurement in a larger space. Re: fridge space 17Nov 14, 2008 10:58 am We made our space 100cm wide also. I also put a water point in... We just have normal fridge now but hopefully it breaks down soon and then I can by a side by side with ice maker!!! Re: fridge space 18Nov 14, 2008 11:01 am I went through this too when drawing up my plans - I think 1m is great, we went for 1050, mainly due to the fact we had a wall on the side that meant we wouldn't be able to open one of the doors properly if we went any smaller.
Samsung just brought out there new SPACE fridge - it is a bigger fridge 700L+ but it has smaller dimensions - 600mm cabinet depth, 910mm width...looks great! My karma ran over your dogma I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 7529 You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
