It is more the fact that the developer previously gave NO information after buying land as to why there were delays, we had to chase and chase and chase. We were also told falsities time and time again so we have a right to be frustrated. The developer said on numerous occasions that there would more than likely be a name change to the suburb so it's not like the people who made or support the petition just pulled this idea out of thin air. With regards to the weather and the park etc. It's odd that in 4 years they haven't been able to make a park, yet hundreds of houses and peoples gardens are finished. We received a letter about our front yard because we were a few weeks late in starting it, yet it's ok to not complete a park when we bought our land in 2008? When we sold our house in The Avenue our real estate agent said that it was almost impossible to get some people to even have a look at the house because of the suburb name. Thankfully we sold and we weren't out to make a huge profit just sell the house. I think everyone has a right to have their say and I am not sure why those who are so critical of the petitions seem to feel the need to be so negative. If you don't agree then just don't sign. We've seen recent park action and now demand more! Re: The Avenue at Casey 1013Apr 30, 2012 9:58 pm awdrg Margwar Its funny.... allot of people here seem to have nothing better to do than moan and carry on to the council or land sales... Give me a break. Have some paitence. We bought out land in May 09, waited and waited to start building, but it all happened in time and now we are enjoying our house. There are always delays with anything of this nature.... the weather over the last 2 years has been very wet. Just chillax and enjoy your new house and when the park is done, we can all enjoy it. Its not as if there are no others in the area....!?!?! As for a suburb name change... I knew full well that when we moved to the area that we would be in Cranbourne. I researched it before we bought.... I didnt buy this block to make money, I bought it to live in and enjoy it with my family and not worry if my suburb had Cranbourne attached to it.... Just makes me laugh that people never seem to be happy anymore... they always want more and more and feel they are getting mistreated. Life is too short for all of that. Just enjoy what you have and make the most of the time you have in Cranbourne North!! Well said. I was compelled to join and post after reading this as finally I agree with someone. If people were too stupid to research the land they purchased and find out there has been market gardens on and around it for many years and that the suburb is Cranbourne North, then that's their problem. Bus routes - well at least that's a productive reason to whinge to council, rather than some misguided attempt at raising property prices. If the people with this goal knew anything about the market then they would realise the land size and quality of house + improvements will be 99% of the impact on the price. Since the planning minister set different guidelines on new estates (i.e. very limited releases of blocks over 550m), suburb name means less and less moving forward. Have these individuals even pondered the potential negatives of pushing this agenda? Things as obvious as possible increases in council rates and different tariffs for water/power/gas? Im with you Margwar, it seems people just need something to sook about these days Funny you should say this as I was not 'Stupid' and I did research the land I was purchasing over two years ago when I was looking and discovered at the time that Council had requested feedback from the public regarding a name change from Cranbourne North to something different. I also remember reading something on another blog that they had four alternative names in mind. As recently as last year it was again mentioned in a City of Casey publication I received in my letterbox and also in a flyer I had picked up about Saladra Rise. A friend of mine who has lived in the area for several years had also read something about Council combining Clyde North and Cranbourne North together to form a new Suburb as there was a belief that Cranbourne was getting too large and with all the new estates proposed a new suburb was needed. As far as complaining to land sales about the work on the park goes I believe this is justified. The Developers have had two years now since land first titled to complete what was promoted as the feature of The Avenue Estate. I feel sorry for those living around the park who have young children who have to look out on the play ground each day not knowing when they will be able to play on it. The name Cranbourne North and the Market gardens I can take but infrastructure and the lack of public transport sucks. Not every family has the luxury of 2 cars to get them around and a bus system is desperately needed. Without public transport a stay at home mum who does not have a second car is almost a prisoner in her house here. Now if we can just get that bus to run down my street all will be fine Now that I've had my sook I feel better. I would rather have discussions on things that are of a helpful nature. For example: If you are after some cheap plants there is a truck at Eastern end of the Berwick Market each Sunday that has great plants. We have got many trees off these sellers and are extremely happy with them. I got 6ft Orange tree for $25 and a 6ft Burgandy Gum for $20. She even through in a few smaller plants for the kids for free as we bought about $150 worth of plants off them one Sunday. I would like to thank the Council or Land developers for looking after the Gum trees on our nature strip. The watering over the hotter months has kept them well. Maybe its just not my nature to complain, but I did join this forum to hopefuly get some good information about the area or some ideas for my house. All I have learned is that I seem to be in an area where no-one seems happy with the suburb they chose to live in. Margwar, You clearly have a short memory - Page 8 [quote]Hi All, We are in stage 7, ald I cannot beleive that stage 8 is so much more advanced. Very disappointed with the sales office and the way that just keep pushing the dates out and making excuses for the weather, when we had the driest April on record.[quote] I don't interpret anyone's posts as being unhappy with the suburb they chose to live in, nor expecting anything from the Developer other than marketed when purchasing land. I have met many well researched and informed community minded residents who all agree the Developers 'project management skills' to deliver on time are debatable. With regard to the Council; people are simply supplying information requested. A very happy resident - hoping we're not paying 'Central Park' contractors by the hour!! PS - I'm Stage 8, a friendly lot and always in the garden. We have just purchased a block near the display homes on Mountainview Blvd, and was wondering what people experienced with site costs when building. We are obtaining a few quotes from builders and these seem to differ quite vastly. Thanks in advance. We have a good forum here with some great people, who are interested in our little community, so it wouldn't have been one of those! I agree, there is a great hairdresser on the estate, she cut my daughters hair beautifully tonight, so come on and lets continue to support our community.
