What an amazing feeling that it must be... And good for the builders too. You must have an awsome SS. Keep the pics coming.. Hope I can keep up.. OK Paula, will try to upload smaller images. It all looks fine on my monitor though. Go figure..... My bet is still in for Xmas, New Year at the latest the way that are charging along. Keep the pics coming. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: And Southies are done....with EDEN BRAE!! 169Nov 13, 2008 4:20 pm Paula Southies Havent' met our SS yet, so don't know whether he's moving it along. If he is...then what would be his motive ? OK Paula, will try to upload smaller images. It all looks fine on my monitor though. Go figure..... Maybe I need a bigger monitor I think I can shed some light on this, especially since I started the whole puzzlement - sorry. It depends on how you are accustomed to using your web browser. Those who habitually run their browser full screen, or almost full screen, AND who have a screen that is 1280 or more pixels wide - as are most LCD monitors these days - those users will not notice a problem with pictures of the size that Southies posts - they will neatly fill the screen almost to the edge. Those (like me, and possibly Paula) who run their browser in a window that is NOT set to fill the screen see the Southie photos disappear off the right edge of the screen, and must scroll right to see the whole picture. If it only affected the post with the picture in it, no problem, but the entire web page containing the large photo is expanded, so ALL the posts on that page also disappear off the right edge, including those without photos. If you reduce the width of your browser window to something narrower than a "Southie photo", you'll see the effect. Restricting the size of pictures in forums (fora?) is one of those "nettiquette" things, like not shouting by typing in ALL CAPITALS, and refraining from sending huge attachments to people who only have dialup internet. I should also admit to the fact that on another (completely unrelated) forum, I was one of several nitpickers who were collectively known as SAGN's. I was a Spelling And Grammar Nazi. I think maybe I've gone a bit soft in my old age, but every now and then the Nazi in me escapes. Feel free to make fun of me when that happens. Built the C£arend0n Cambridge: Moved in. Happy campers. Re: And Southies are done....with EDEN BRAE!! 170Nov 13, 2008 4:37 pm Should always rely on the old 600x800 resolution for the lowest common denominator (people with old monitors or vision issues).
Maximum image width of 500 pixels works well and speeds up loading time. Re: And Southies are done....with EDEN BRAE!! 171Nov 13, 2008 5:26 pm I'm fiddling around with photbucket re-sizing but it's not working. I'm obviously doing something wrong because they're the same size !

How close are those guys to the power lines? How come on my monitor, they are the same size ? Whatever you did, keep doing it. It probably isn't worth the trouble of going back and working on your previous photos, but keep on doing whatever you did with that last one for future pics. I notice you use Photobucket - there is a drop-down box in the upload window that lets you choose what size Photobucket will display. 800x600 is good. went out to the block today to check it out. In a couple of places, the plate was overhanging the slab by 15mm - 5mm more than the BCA allowance. Is this going to be a problem ? Should we pursue it or just let the SS know that we are aware of it ? Pursuing the issue I think is impossible now, as the top floor frame is complete. I would imagine that the only point in bringing it up is to make the SS aware that he's not dealing with ninkompoops. Re: And Southies are done....with EDEN BRAE!! 179Nov 16, 2008 10:00 pm Hi Southies. I am the let-it-go queen it seems but even I have to say that I think the overhang should be fixed.
Are you getting that independent inspection? You could ask them about it. Re: And Southies are done....with EDEN BRAE!! 180Nov 16, 2008 10:05 pm I would simply ask the SS what is the overhang used for? and why is it there? and why is it more than the required amount?
That way he knows you know its not right and you now what it should be and let him either tell the truth and get it fixed or he will try and make up a storey to keep the buid going. You will soon find out if he is a straightshooter.... I am to devious sometimes, don't listen to me I will just get you into trouble with your builder. All I will say is bring it up now and don't let it get to far down the track. I built with EB back on 2009.
