Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 05, 2020 8:52 pm Hi team, We’ve purchased a shack and have our work cut out for us throughout the property. In particular the kitchen and bathroom. What recommendations would you have to save this bathroom? I fear a plaster job would be quite a task... is it worth just painting the corrugated walls in a dark colour, replace lino (maybe white?) and leave white edging/shower to draw eyes away from this? The rest of the property has lovely natural timber flooring, plaster walls, down light etc - so this room is out of context but as the master bathroom I need to bring it in line! That is one heck of a bathroom, would love to get stuck into that one (i am a retired builder specializing in bathroom and kitchens) It seems like you don't want a full rip out and replace job, but i would get rid of the ugly corrugated wall linings and use 6mm villaboard or moisture resistant gyprock, just so you are getting it to a more modern look. Are you wanting to replace the shower and vanity basin/cabinet. Painting the whole room with a good quality mould resistant flat or low sheen acrylic paint (i use flat on all walls i a house) will make it look bigger and modern, and use blacks/charcoals/grey/chrome accents will lift the room and make it look more modern than it might actually be. Hard to give too many ideas from a photo, one needs to cast a good look at how well the room is laid out, how structurally sound everything is behind the existing wall linings etc. What is the condition of the timber floor boards and sub floor framing like under the existing floor covering ? Is there a loo behind that 2/3rd height wall where the window is ? Re: Help to fix this ugly bathroom 3May 01, 2020 10:11 am You can purchase Tile panels which are about 4mm thick (Like Acrylic) and stick these over the current walls, they are easy to install and cut using carbide tip saw and holes saws to do plumbing cutouts and than just silicone the perimeters to make water tight.
