Re: Building in Aveley with WA Housing Centre 7Apr 03, 2013 4:54 pm fmac Ok for the kitchen consider maybe a corner WIP and then the fridge next to it. The you have a nice long stretch of bench down the back wall. Add a window to the kitchen. That's faces north to an extent so might be nice to get some sunshine in. Unfortunately atm because we have made so many changes we are a bit constrained by finance we have added a full 20sqm to the house so far, so we have to hold off on it for the moment, but i like your idea only problem is a house will block most of the light to that side area fmac Have you pushed the right hand side of the house out the the eaves? They don't appear on the plan, thats the west side of the house and will get all the summer sun in the afternoon. Eaves might be handy for providing some shade and protection from the heat. No we haven't, was just a bad scan of the picture, sorry about that. fmac Make wardrobes larger and put sliders on them? Due to the size of the rooms we are going to leave them as is but the builder has agreed to add doors FOC!!! fmac Put sliders on the linen? Love this idea, think i have to wait for Pre-start for that. fmac Check the size of the garage. Is it going to fit two cars. The external size will be more then internal. Ours is 6x6 and pretty sure we had to sign off on the size. Yes 6x6, he assured us 2 family size cars would fit. fmac Will there be a door or opening on the left of the garage down the narrow side of the house? How will you get landscaping stuff down there? Going to be adding this. fmac Looks like youll get a nice size side yard ? Yes perfect for our little boy and our White Shepherd Thanks for your input FMAC very helpful, also found out the slab was 80mm is this small? Additionally I want to wire the whole house with Cat6 cable but im hoping to save costs by doing the cabling myself and just having them do the conduit in the single brick and putting in the backplate and letting me do the rest, do you think this would be a considerable saving to me or should i just bite the bullet and have them do it all? Thanks for all your input so far mate. ----------------------------------------- TIMELINE: Land Deposit Paid: 25 March 2013 House Deposit Paid: 19 April 2013 Re: Building in Aveley with WA Housing Centre 8Apr 03, 2013 4:56 pm fancy pants We're building in Aveley too. Re: Building in Aveley with WA Housing Centre 10Apr 03, 2013 6:04 pm I have no idea about cabling but someone might be able to help! Is your island only 80cm wide? If they included stone in the kitchen it was probably like us 1 piece of stone. It's 3m long by 1m wide so with the back bench being 60cm wide your left with 80cm piece for the island. Most islands are 90 as standard. Ours is 2.6m long so if it was 80cm wide we felt it would look funny. Re: Building in Aveley with WA Housing Centre 11Apr 03, 2013 6:25 pm fmac Is your island only 80cm wide? not to sure on the dimensions of the island, doesn't appear there is any information on it in the documentation I have. I really preferred the island that saw in the display home, it had enough stone at the back for a breakfast bar sort of thing, I would really like that but I don't think cost will permit it, might have to see at pre-start. ----------------------------------------- TIMELINE: Land Deposit Paid: 25 March 2013 House Deposit Paid: 19 April 2013 Re: Building in Aveley with WA Housing Centre 12Apr 03, 2013 7:43 pm Hust ask the question. I know we considered going back to laminate bench tips if we couldn't stretch to stone. But all builders are different. You probably won't know till you get the drawings with your contract.
