I understand suppliers pricing can change but what is the point of the quote if things can change? I thought a quote in writing was legally binding... Is there something I've missed in the fine print?! Thanks Hi ftdt Not sure I can answer exactly, but I have just been filing everything from quotes (perhaps should call them estimations) to Contract, so thought I would check on the pricing. I must say, my SC over estimated on many things. So really, I think it is "swings and roundabouts". Some things at Tender/Contract end up cheaper, some are more expensive. This is because some of the quotes maybe based on old information or the SC experience with other people in other house plans. The SC are trying to offer ball park figures to give you a closer idea. It is the Tender and Contract I understand are legally binding documents, not necessarily the quotes. At the end of the day, challenge where you think is appropriate. When we came out at Tender, we had spent less money than our original quote. I would rather it be this way, then for the nice to have items, we could add in. Here are my experiences (Quote price listed first, then Contract price): Site costs - $35,000 to $26,000 Additional Rear Garage Roller Door - $647 to $140 Double Glaze Windows - $12,000 to $6,000 Up to 1000mm wide pot drawers - $283 to $362 Alifrost Doors removed - credit back of $660 40mm Stone to Island Bench - $800 to $281 Electrical - $4,000 to $8,000 Amended Pantry - $461 to $646 Colourbond roof to house and additions - $5,800 to $3,734 4 door laundry overhead cupboards - $500 to $726 Thanks for that info. Swings and roundabouts I guess!!! I notice you removed the alifrost doors and got a credit. Did you remove the doors completely or just change the doors to laminex? I've been told I need to pay to switch from alifrost to laminex, even though I have paid for the upgrade to alifrost doors in a package! Confusing! I have just had tender and asked about the alfrost doors and i was told there is no price difference so we werent credited although this has been made out to be an "upgrade" in the promotions. Re: Porter Davis homes 6978Apr 02, 2013 12:02 pm To anyone thinking of building with Porter Davis My son and i are building the Waldorf 48 House and Land Package The Process started in October 2012 ... We choose the Waldorf 48 for the great floor plan and wanted the house and land package thinking there would be no surprises with site costs or planning and building permits ...Be aware of all the costs before signing the contracts... When buying a house and land Package we didn't realize that there where so many problems 1. You have to purchase the land before you have the contract appointment where you find out all the extra hidden costs that nobody can/will tell you about. 2.Planning problems that delays the site start Told that our site start would be at the end of March early April 2013 at contract appointment 22 Feb.... ............ <quote edited and reduced by kexkez Support Member. > These are just a few of the problems we have had so far there have been many more to many to mention ...I will continue to post updates until the build is finished ...if it ever gets started Re: Porter Davis homes 6979Apr 02, 2013 12:04 pm Quote: I notice you removed the alifrost doors and got a credit. I think as we have all learnt from this site, there is not consistent quoting or pricing with PD, everyone seems to have something different, depends on who you speak to on which day and which office. Pick your battles. There are some things the SC said we would be credited for, but when questioned at Tender, the answer was no. We deleted the Alifrost and my understanding is they are replaced with laminex, better double check that! So a win for us on this one, but there were other battles we lost. Thanks, I will double check that Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12320 Ask for references and speak to them.
