Hi all I have an inspection today so hoping to get some advise ASAP.
Our freestanding bath has the taps positioned at the end of the bath and the tap itself lays right in the middle of the bath. Does this seem odd or is this right ???

When discussing the taps with our designer we only ever discussed free standing and out of the built in hob. He suggested the taps should be at the end of the bath as the ones coming in from the side (free standing or otherwise) are more easy to scrape yourself (or kids) on particularly if they have a long reach on them. We ended up choosing one out of the hob as I just knew my kids would use a free standing one as a way to pull themselves up and apparently it doesn't take much for them to start wobbling. The spout is colocated with the tap as shown in this picture (the tap is hidden by the sink from this angle). I don't think there is a right and wrong way its just what you are happy with and what works for your bathroom and family. Yes I didn't realize that they would be on seperate walls I guess I'm going to have to move them, the contract is vague regarding position of the taps, never mind will see how annoying it gets and might have to change it later on. Thanks for your replies. Inspection went well handover after Easter cant wait Re: Advice on tap position for freestanding bath 11Mar 26, 2013 10:32 pm Bluesuede I'm assuming you are asking because you want to know whether it is a defect or not and whether you can get it corrected? Your taps location and spout should have been marked and signed off by yourself on bathroom details in your plans. If it is as drawn then its not a defect and you won't get it changed at the builder's expense. If it is different than what you agreed to on plan then they'll have to fix it. Check your plans! PLANS CHECKED and as we signed what felt like 10000 pages I may of signed the tap position one somewhere in the many pages.. anyway looked at it properly today think it will be ok if not will change to swivel after handover. Re: Advice on tap position for freestanding bath 12Mar 26, 2013 10:40 pm tompab Our house is currently being built and out tap is the same. Didn't really think about it until the plumbing was done and we saw it. Not sure what I think, but it doesn't really matter since we are not gonna try and change it. Seems to be like this in many display houses though. Thank you that's exactly what Im taking about we didn't really think about it until it was pointed out to me the other day.. There was really no discussion on where the taps were going do maybe the plumber and sale rep worked it out. I figured I read most of the fine details in the contract but oh we'll that one was missed. I think it will be ok I looked at it today and it looks like the only thing that would be a bit of a pain is if you had to add water while in it. Guess I will be making Sure its all full and correct temp before I get in didn't look odd as they changed the tap length which looked much better but will change to swivel tap if need be. Re: Advice on tap position for freestanding bath 13Mar 26, 2013 10:42 pm MalinViktoria It's a bit hard to tell from the picture, but is the tap obstructive at all, for when you get in/are in/get out of the bath? I personally would have preferred to have it on the same wall as the mixers. I think getting in and out will be ok as there is a large gap either side but agree if I had picked up on it in the first place I would of moved them. Re: Advice on tap position for freestanding bath 14Mar 27, 2013 7:11 pm after seeing your bath i am very excited to see how ours will look. Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included.
