In Melbourne most of the display homes use the heavier doors. They are noticable different with their movement than the standard doors. They feel heavier and stronger. All my brothers have put holes in doors at one point or another from playing wrestling etc so it was the first thing mum suggested. Also I often wonder about putting soundproofing in theatre rooms etc but then not upgrading to solid doors or even putting glass doors on the room. It kind of defeats the purpose. Sorry for the hijack Bel! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: 2 Panel Doors 16Aug 31, 2008 10:36 pm You know what I think, Bel, but if you really love the 2 panel doors, your kids won't be toddlers for that long (believe me... ) so I wouldn't discount them for that reason alone! Go with your heart!
I love your mum's comment - that's a classic!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: 2 Panel Doors 17Aug 31, 2008 10:48 pm joles Bel, Paula's kids are over 10. Yours aren't. That's why hers are clean. Yours won't be. That sounds really horrible doesn't it. You know what I meant Bel, humour way off the mark tonight sorry! Get the doors you love! Terrence Malick Re: 2 Panel Doors 18Sep 01, 2008 6:59 am Why don't you just keep the standard flush doors, live with them for a while after hadover and change them yourself at a later stage, if need be.
That way you will be sure whether you still want them or not PLUS the replacements ( fi you go that way) will be cheaper to buy than if the builder does it, with the inevitable markup Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: 2 Panel Doors 19Sep 01, 2008 9:00 am I think you are right Southies - I looked on the Corinthian website and I think they are charging about $50 a door for the ones I was looking at or about $250 for the more solid panel doors...
PD charges about $70 per panel door.... We might stick with standard flush (unless our budget comes in magically WAY under with our 2nd soil test) then we might reconsider the door issue... Atleast we know it is something we can change after. Jo - Don't worry, I don't take offence to much My karma ran over your dogma Re: 2 Panel Doors 20Sep 01, 2008 11:31 am joles Paula's kids are over 10. Yours aren't. That's why hers are clean.
