Assuming the front of the house is going to be on Umangla St, just thinking of solar orientation, it might be better to have a large window in the rumpus on the rear wall, as where it currently is its going to get western sun, although the alfresco will probably partially shade it. Maybe add a small sink in the toilet, just so people can wash their hands if someone else is in the main bathroom? The only other thing that came to mind was you could be a little short on storage for linen/towels etc. Not sure where you add more though. Nowhere really came straight to mind. Nice to see the door from the rear of the garage, shame it doesn't lead straight into the house but I don't think it'll be too much of an issue. Probably better from security point of view not leading straight into the house, but then again you're not building in the crime capital of Australia anyway!! Can't wait to see it all start! 2 Re: Teds new home 4Mar 05, 2013 7:55 pm Hey Sean thanks for the input. We have decided to build facing barbigal st. We have a put in a small cupboard near bed two for the vacuum cleaner so we will make the cupboard in the laundry bigger for linen. We will keep our linen in our WIR. I forgot to take out he family section, this will be our dining. Re: Teds new home 5Mar 05, 2013 9:11 pm Love your plan, Ted! Looking forward to following your build! I am building a modified Fernside 38. What is the house name that you are building????? There are a couple of Rawson threads going, probably the most active is 'our Benham 33 journey' that is where most of the Rawson people hang out if you want to join in. We will be 1 year in June and I was hoping that we would be in by then, but I doubt we will be. Where are you up to at the moment? We have had a few issues with finance and then we lost our block of land( ask seano he has the funny story) so we had to find another block which was extremely difficult. We found a block which was more expensive which meant more hassles with finance. we have signed contracts for build and are currently waiting on block of land to settle. We had problems with the purchaser of our old house and then we agreed to purchase a block and the agent did the dirty on us and told another person what the agreed offer was on the block so we ended up pulling out as the owner wanted more money. We then went for another block and had troubles with the council when we wanted to build a different house, so finally we had to change builders and go with Rawson as we had to build a two storey house to fit into the building envelope. The road is stressful and it is long, and I am telling myself that it will all be worth it in the end.
