Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Feb 20, 2013 4:28 pm Hi All First house, first home reno... no one to ask! Today, about one hour ago I just signed a contract for my house reno. It's a traditional old red brick and somewhat ugly. In this round of renovations, I'm getting a new deck installed out the back, the main living space turned open plan (currently very small rooms and galley kitchen) a new kitchen installed and the place rendered. Any suggestions on Render colour? I'm after a warm tone- I live right on a national park and totally surrounded by trees front and back and this place is never going to look modern (plus, I just don't really like grey!). I was thinking something along the lines of dulux tuft. Please note that I will be using modwood for my deck- I'm in a high bushfire rating area so it was the BAL 40 rated modwood or merbau/spotted pine and I hear the merbau requires cutting down of old growth forests- so any suggestions on which type of modwood colours would be great too . Pic ... any advice much appreciated. http://www.flickr.com/photos/60827227@N06/8491696012/ Thanks. Re: Colours... I'm at a loss.... 2Feb 20, 2013 5:22 pm Are you changing anything about the roof? I'd look at one of the colorbond colors so you dont have to overthink stuff like downpipes etc - Dulux (and others) match their paint to colorbond colors. They complement each other well and then you can tie in stuff like fences too. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. Our thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67954 Re: Colours... I'm at a loss.... 3Feb 20, 2013 6:26 pm The roof isn't great- no doubt. Unfortunately... the roof is staying. It will be cleaned however. What do you mean about overthinking stuff like downpipes? The downpipes are white but will be replaced obviously-- oh- ETA- do you mean it's just easier to get that colour in downpipes? So I should look for the colourbond equivalent? Re: Colours... I'm at a loss.... 4Feb 20, 2013 7:04 pm dichotomise...what Mrs T12 meant was if you go with a colorbond colour you only have a few to choose from instead of lots of paint colours, which after a while can prove a really hard decision. Natural Grain Collection The colours below show the Sahara, Black Bean, Jarrah and Silver Gum. The sample on the left is the smooth face and the sample on the right is the brushed face. The boards are reversible and either face can be installed up. You need to get samples, but I think C/B Evening Haze for gutters and down pipes may work. Just to throw another thing in-- on the modwood site they have the jarrah matched with a warmer, creamier beige/sand colour. I am going to try the tuft but given I'm going to try out several samples, what colour do you think they have used with the Jarrah here? http://www.modwood.com.au/images/newGallery/21.jpg It is a lot less grey than the tuft. I'm at a loss.... 8Feb 27, 2013 3:27 am Check with your building surveyor on the modwood. Before the last amendment, Modwood appeared to do the job. There is an unanswered question out there on this now that the rules have changed. We go to a tiled deck to suit the new legislation. cheers Re: Colours... I'm at a loss.... 9Mar 04, 2013 10:48 am Nice sandstone windowsills....I'd be making them a feature. You said no grey, why?. It would be perfect here, look great with your white gutters/downpipes and really set off the sandstone sills and your modwood decking. Nice house, has heaps of potential! Hey. Head to a metal and decide on which profile you will use first. Profiles with larger corrugations can greatly change the appearance of the color in different… 0 3437 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34460 |
